These highlights capture moments from the two-day workshop where student organizations came together to learn about archiving practices, ethics and access, digital preservation, and archival planning for their own organizations.

Through conversations, hands-on activities, and shared reflections, participants explored how caring for records is also a way of caring for the histories and communities that shape the University.

Three weeks ago, we concluded DAY 2 of 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗧𝗢 𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗔𝗖𝗬: A Seminar-Workshop on Archiving for Student Organizations at the UPFI Film Center. 📚✨

The second day focused on digital archiving and preservation, where participants explored practical tools for organizing and safeguarding their organizations’ records. Student representatives also began drafting archival plans for their own organizations, turning ideas from the first day into concrete steps toward sustaining their collective histories.

Through collaboration and shared learning, the workshop highlighted how documentation can become an act of care—ensuring that the stories, advocacies, and experiences of student organizations continue to be remembered and passed on.

Thank you to all participants who joined us for both days and contributed to building a culture of archiving within the University.

Three weeks ago, student organizations gathered at the UPFI Film Center for 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗧𝗢 𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗔𝗖𝗬: A Seminar-Workshop on Archiving for Student Organizations. 📚✨

Join us for From Memory to Legacy: A Seminar-Workshop on Archiving for Student Organizations and learn from leading practitioners in film archives, librarianship, and memory work.

💡 Our Resource Speakers:

🎤 Arnulfo “Makk” Junio – Former College Librarian of the UPFI Film Archives & Library, Makk is a respected archivist-librarian and cultural heritage advocate. He has played a key role in strengthening film archiving practices in the Philippines and continues to mentor institutions and organizations in preservation work.

🎤 Carina C. Samaniego – College Librarian at the UP Film Archives & Library, Carina has extensive experience in archival management, cultural preservation, and institutional records care. She actively supports initiatives that advance archival standards and professional development in the country.

🎤 Adrian D. Mendizabal – University Researcher at the UP Film Institute, Adrian is a media studies scholar and memory worker engaged in research on archives, technics, and social movements. He is committed to building sustainable and inclusive archival cultures within communities.
