Emotional Stability is the ability to remain calm, balanced, and in control of one’s feelings even when facing stress, disappointment, conflict, or difficult situations. It does not mean that a person never becomes angry, sad, or frustrated. Rather, it means knowing how to recognize these emotions, manage them properly, and choose a wise response instead of reacting impulsively.
Jesus Christ is the most example who demonstrated emotional stability. Throughout His ministry, Jesus faced rejection, criticism, betrayal, and suffering, yet He continued to respond with compassion, forgiveness, and love. His example teaches the importance of self-control and forgiveness during difficult circumstances.
For PDL, emotional stability is especially important because being in a confined environment can bring challenges such as homesickness, misunderstandings, frustration, and uncertainty. By developing emotional stability, a person learns to pause before reacting, think before speaking, accept situations that cannot immediately be changed, and respond to others with patience and respect. A stable person becomes a source of peace rather than conflict.
The discussion highlighted the importance of emotional stabilityin maintaining a calm, balanced, and positive disposition, particularly when faced with challenges, conflicts, disappointments, and stressful situations. The PDL were encouraged to recognize their emotions, control their reactions, think before acting, and respond to difficult situations in a respectful and constructive manner. It was emphasized that emotional stability does not mean suppressing emotions, but rather learning how to manage and express them appropriately.
We resolve to become more aware of our emotions and to control our reactions, especially when faced with anger, disappointment, stress, or conflict. We will practice pausing and thinking before we speak or act. Instead of allowing negative emotions to control us, we will choose patience, understanding, forgiveness, and respectful communication.
We will not allow the present circumstances to determine the kind of person we will become. We will learn from our mistakes, accept correction, and use every challenge as an opportunity to grow stronger and wiser.
We will strive to be emotionally stable so that we can contribute to a peaceful, respectful, and harmonious community.
“My emotions may influence me, but they will not control me. I choose to respond with wisdom, patience, and dignity.”
