| As SSU–Paranas Campus celebrates its 91st Commencement Exercises, Commencement Speaker Atty. Eunice U. Babalcon reminded graduates that learning does not end with the receipt of a diploma—it is a lifelong pursuit.

Addressing the Class of 2026, she encouraged graduates to remain students for life, embrace continuous growth, and pursue dreams that extend beyond personal success. She emphasized the importance of helping others, living with integrity, and staying true to one’s purpose wherever life may lead.

Her inspiring message served as both a celebration of the graduates’ achievements and a challenge to become future-ready professionals who will contribute meaningfully to their communities and the nation.

Congratulations, Class of 2026!

Graduates of Batch 2026 were inspired by the heartfelt commencement address of Hon. Vice Mayor Atty. Eunice Babalcon, who reminded them that every sleepless night, difficult project, and seemingly impossible examination was part of a journey worth taking.

She acknowledged not only the sacrifices of the students but also the dedication of the professors and teachers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare them for the future.

Emphasizing that learning does not end with the receipt of a diploma, Ms. Babalcon encouraged the graduates to remain lifelong learners—individuals who continuously grow, adapt, and embrace change. She stressed that true success lies not only in personal achievement but also in using one's knowledge and skills to uplift others.

"If your dreams do not include helping others, then your dreams are too small. Wherever you are, Live with integrity and purpose. And the bid is the purpose you always must respect."

This Hypertension Awareness Month, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) encourages the public to know their numbers and adopt healthier eating and lifestyle habits to help maintain normal blood pressure and support overall heart health.

High blood pressure often has no symptoms, but it can lead to serious health problems such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure if left unmanaged.

Following the Pinggang Pinoy food guide can help individuals achieve balanced meals by consuming Go, Grow, and Glow foods in appropriate portions. Reducing salt intake, eating more fruits and vegetables, drinking enough water, staying physically active, managing stress, and getting enough sleep are likewise important in promoting a healthier lifestyle.

The public is also advised to limit the consumption of high-sodium foods such as instant noodles, chips, canned goods, processed meats, and salty sauces, as excessive sodium intake may contribute to elevated blood pressure.

Regular blood pressure monitoring and making informed nutrition choices are important steps toward preventing hypertension and its complications.

By making healthy food and lifestyle choices every day, we can all contribute to building healthier hearts and healthier communities.

The Municipal Government of Paranas, Samar just wrapped up a milestone 4-day Roadmap Scoping Workshop (May 26-29) in Palo, Leyte.

Empowered by technical guidance from ICSC and co-facilitated by AktivAsia Pilipinas, the workshop defined concrete next steps toward secure, reliable energy for all Paranasnons. Key outputs include establishing their Local Energy Council and setting initial green targets—building right on top of Paranas' existing local energy projects and code!

This activity forms part of the initiative of the ICSC, designed to support progressive LGUs from plan to ex*****on.

Supported by the Tara Climate Foundation, this effort is part of the CASE (Clean, Affordable and Secure Energy for Southeast Asia) project led by GIZ on behalf of the International Climate Initiative (IKI).

Salamat, ICSC! 🌱

Day 3 of the four-day Renewable Energy (RE) Roadmap Scoping Workshop turned up the momentum as the Municipal Government of Paranas looked to proven, provincial-scale models to shape its clean energy future.

The highlight of the day was a presentation by Iloilo Province Fourth District Board Member Rolando B. Distura, who shared the highly acclaimed best practices and pioneering frameworks of the Iloilo Provincial Ordinance for Renewable Energy (I-PORE). Delivering a striking message to the Paranas Technical Working Group (TWG), Board Member Distura stated that “Power Precedes Progress,” emphasizing that a community cannot achieve genuine economic and social development without first securing stable, self-reliant energy infrastructure.

To bridge the gap between policy design and actual implementation, the workshop heavily focused on overcoming the financial barriers often faced by smaller municipalities. Participants were introduced to various accessible funding channels, including international and multilateral finance mechanisms tailored for community climate adaptation projects.

Furthermore, strategic presentations mapped out solid frameworks for securing RE finance through national government financial institutions, specifically detailing the green credit facilities and low-interest loan programs offered by the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) and the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), alongside localized financing pathways through rural banks.

Armed with Iloilo’s localized blueprints and actionable banking options, the Paranas TWG is successfully positioning itself to transition its ambitious energy visions into fundable, realistic infrastructure.
