Commission on Population and Development Region III

Commission on Population and Development Region III We are a technical and information resource agency, working on population program of the Philippines.

The Commission on Population (CPD) - Region III was established in 1973 in San Fernando, Pampanga in response to the population problems in Central Luzon. In 1975-1977, the Commission introduced the Total Integrated Development Approach (TIDA) to broaden program coverage. The Family Planning Program was then integrated with other development activities such as the National Population and Family Pl

anning Outreach Projects to bring the necessary services closer to the people to remote barangays. Simultaneously, CPD Region III organized the population offices in the six (6) provinces and four (4) cities. CPD Region III then became the central planning and coordinating body for all population-related activities. It was also involved in the integration of the family planning program through Information/Education/Communication (IEC); training of personnel in the medical and paramedical profession, fieldworkers and managers and research; and clinic/delivery services particularly in the distribution of clinic/contraceptive supplies. To date, CPD - Region III is embarking on a massive coordination with both government and non-government agencies and local government units through the provincial, city and municipal population offices in the implementation of projects and activities in Central Luzon on the Philippine Population Management Program (PPMP) particularly in its three major components: Population and Development, Adolescent Health and Youth Development, as well as Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning.
