On August 27, 2026, SM City Pampanga became a venue of opportunity and empowerment as it hosted the City Job Fair and National Tech-Voc Day, an initiative that brought together job seekers, employers, government agencies, and skills development partners to provide accessible employment and career opportunities to the people.
The activity was organized through the collaborative efforts of the City Government of San Fernando, Pampanga, SM City Pampanga, Department of Labor and Employment and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening employment facilitation, promoting technical-vocational education, and creating greater opportunities for every job seeker.
The event was graced by the presence of Hon. Vilma Balle-Caluag, City Mayor of the City of San Fernando, whose administration continues to prioritize employment generation, workforce development, and programs that empower Fernandinos toward productive and sustainable livelihoods. Her presence highlighted the City Government's continuing commitment to bringing employment opportunities closer to its constituents.
The City Job Fair successfully brought together 23 local companies and 2 overseas employers, offering a total of 2,112 job vacancies to job seekers. With 280 applicants recorded through the partial count, the activity provided participants with opportunities to explore various employment options, submit their applications, undergo interviews, and connect directly with potential employers. Notably, 62 applicants were hired on the spot (HOTS), marking a significant accomplishment for the employment initiative.
Complementing the employment services were 10 partner government agencies, namely the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Social Security System (SSS), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Transportation (DOTr), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Their participation ensured that job seekers were not only connected to employment opportunities but were also provided with access to essential government services, information, and assistance.
The celebration of National Tech-Voc Day further emphasized the importance of technical-vocational education and skills development in preparing individuals for the changing demands of the labor market. Through TESDA and its partners, participants were given greater awareness of the value of acquiring relevant skills and competencies that can lead to employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The activity reflects the continuing commitment of the City Government of San Fernando to employment facilitation and inclusive economic development. By bringing employers, government institutions, and job seekers together in one venue, the event helped bridge the gap between available opportunities and individuals seeking meaningful work.
