The 21st Sangguniang Bayan of Maitum, Sarangani Province successfully conducted its 58th Regular Session on August 24, 2026, presided over by the Municipal Vice Mayor and Presiding Officer, Hon. Freddie F. Balazon.

During the session, the Body welcomed and received the courtesy call of the newly installed Acting Municipal Fire Marshall, SPO3 Aileen Angeles Carollo, together with newly assigned fire officers FO1 Dan Anthony Bringas Padua and FO1 Romnick Balazon Coraller. Their presence marks another step toward strengthening fire prevention, preparedness, and public safety in the municipality.

Also during the session, Hon. Nelson M. Merculio sponsored a Resolution Commending the 7th Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Maitum for the successful conduct of the 3rd Maitum Youth Fest, held on August 1–12, 2026.

The Youth Fest showcased the talents, leadership, creativity, sportsmanship, and potential of Maitum’s young people—reminding us that when the youth are empowered, the future of the community becomes stronger.

Through every session, the Sangguniang Bayan remains committed to responsive legislation, stronger public service, and meaningful programs for the people of Maitum.

𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚, 𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚

The 21st Sangguniang Bayan of Maitum conducted its Flying Session at Barangay Ticulab on August 17, 2026, presided over by Municipal Vice Mayor Hon. Freddie F. Balazon.

One of the major concerns raised during the session was the Ticulab Bridge, which was severely damaged by a strong flood four years ago. In his privilege speech, Hon. Fredimen K. Wanan emphasized the urgent need for its reconstruction, as the remaining portion of the bridge continues to be used by residents and may pose serious risks to the safety of the constituents.

Punong Barangay Lo**ta Wanan also shared the community's concerns and aspirations, particularly the urgent need for a covered gymnasium with complete amenities that can serve the barangay's students and residents.

The school heads of Ticulab likewise expressed their hopes for additional and improved facilities that will provide a better learning environment for the children.

Beyond legislation, the session also became an opportunity to connect directly with the community. The Members of the 21st Sangguniang Bayan extended their support and shared food with the students of Ticulab Elementary School.

This Flying Session reminds us that effective local governance is not only about holding sessions inside the municipal hall—it is about bringing the Sangguniang Bayan closer to the people, listening to their concerns, and turning their needs into meaningful action.

"𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆’𝘀 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄’𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀."

On August 10, 2026, the 21st Sangguniang Bayan of Maitum conducted its 56th Regular Session, made even more meaningful as the Municipal Junior Officials took their seats as counterparts of the Honorable Members of the Sangguniang Bayan in celebration of the Maitum Youth Festival 2026.

This was more than just a symbolic activity. The Municipal Junior Officials were given the opportunity to experience firsthand the actual duties, responsibilities, and processes of the legislative body—from presiding over the session, presenting and deliberating matters, making motions, participating in discussions, and performing the roles entrusted to the members of the Sangguniang Bayan.

Through this experience, our young Maitumeños were given a glimpse of what it means to serve, lead, deliberate, and make decisions for the betterment of the community. It also serves as a reminder that leadership is not only about holding a position—it is about understanding responsibility, listening to others, and having the courage to make decisions for the common good.

May this experience inspire them to continue learning, serving, and becoming responsible young citizens who will help shape the future of Maitum.

Bringing legislative services closer to the people, the 21st Sangguniang Bayan of Maitum successfully conducted its 1st Flying Session during the 55th Regular Session, presided over by Municipal Vice Mayor Hon. Freddie F. Balazon, as part of the Barangay-Based Legislative Consultations/Sessions to Support Peace and Public Safety Measures.

One of the highlights of the session was the presentation of the proposed Datu PinTic Agrarian Reform Community (ARC) Development Plan by Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer John H. Gamad of the Department of Agrarian Reform. The proposed development plan aims to strengthen and accelerate the delivery of government support services to the component barangays of Tuanadatu, Pinol, and Ticulab, while seeking the legislative support of the Sangguniang Bayan for its formal establishment.

The session also provided an avenue for Punong Barangay of Pinol, Hon. Lucky Alih Sapal to voice the aspirations and pressing concerns of his community, particularly on the further development of its tourism potential and the proposed construction of a Hanging Bridge to improve accessibility to one of its sitios.

The legislative undertaking was graced by the presence of Municipal Mayor Hon. James Mark B. Reganit and Municipal Administrator Mr. Ruben Balanag, whose support underscored the Municipality's commitment to responsive, participatory, and people-centered governance.

As a gesture of solidarity and support, the 21st Sangguniang Bayan also turned over goods to the Barangay Council of Pinol.

Through initiatives like the Flying Session, the 21st Sangguniang Bayan continues to uphold its commitment of bringing the legislative process closer to the barangays—listening to the voices of the people, addressing community concerns, and fostering peace, public safety, and sustainable development.

This ordinance was enacted to promote a safer, more organized, and efficient flow of traffic in the vicinity of Malalag Central Elementary School – SPED Center, where the daily movement of students, parents, teachers, residents, and motorists requires heightened safety measures.

By establishing Santiago Ablog Sr. Street as a permanent one-way street, the Municipality aims to reduce traffic congestion, minimize the risk of road accidents, improve pedestrian safety, and ensure a more orderly environment, particularly during school hours.

The 21st Sangguniang Bayan and the Municipal Government encourage all motorists, commuters, and residents to strictly observe the designated traffic direction and comply with the provisions of this ordinance. Your cooperation is vital in protecting the lives of our school children and maintaining peace and order within the community.

The 21st Sangguniang Bayan of the Municipality of Maitum officially publishes Municipal Ordinance No. 2025-16, entitled:
"An Ordinance Regulating the Sale, Distribution, Possession, and Use of Firecrackers, Pyrotechnic Devices, and Other Similar Explosives within the Territorial Jurisdiction of the Municipality of Maitum, Province of Sarangani."

This legislative measure was enacted to strengthen public safety, preserve peace and order, and safeguard the lives and properties of the people of Maitum through the responsible regulation of firecrackers, pyrotechnic devices, and other similar explosives, consistent with existing national laws and policies.

The public is hereby encouraged to read, understand, and strictly comply with the provisions of this Ordinance in support of a safer, more secure, and orderly Municipality of Maitum.
