As we continue to intensify our efforts for the ongoing School-Based Immunization (SBI) Program, the Rural Health Unit of Sindangan conducted an Information Drive at Sindangan Pilot Demonstration School (SPDS) in close cooperation with the school administration.

The activity was graced by the presence and support of Dr. Jorriza A. Sorronda and the ever-active School Nurse, Ma’am Jenelyn Hamoc, who continue to support our efforts in promoting safe and informed vaccination among learners and parents.

Our information session was facilitated by experienced resource speakers who have been actively involved in the program for several years: HEPO Sir Marlou Joseph P. Magtajas, NIP Coordinator Vivian D. Sagario, and PHN IV Ma’am Michelle R. Tomocon, with the assistance of our dependable RHU staff and Human Resources for Health (HRH) personnel.

We hear and understand the concerns, frustrations, and questions of our parents regarding vaccine safety, especially amid the widespread misinformation and disinformation circulating on social media. This is why we believe that open dialogue matters. Creating a safe space where questions are welcomed, concerns are acknowledged, and evidence-based information is shared allows both health workers and parents to better understand one another.

Through respectful conversations, we can find common ground, address legitimate concerns, and move forward together with a shared goal: protecting our children through safe, timely, and informed vaccination.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to our emcee, Steecy A. Ligutom, for stepping up and helping make the session smooth, engaging, and well-coordinated.

As part of our usual pre-assessment monitoring process, a feedback session was conducted immediately after the assessment. The team discussed the observations based on the prescribed checklist and guidelines, with the goal of ensuring the consistent delivery of quality health care services down to the barangay health facility level.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Barangay Captain of Fatima, Hon. Nida D. Andus, and Kagawad on Health, Hon. Maricel S. Ybañez, as well as the Barangay Captain of Nato, Hon. David C. Segundo, and Kagawad on Health, Hon. Agustino Sumbilon, for their active participation during the feedback session.

Their willingness to raise concerns, openly discuss identified gaps, and commit to addressing the deficiencies noted during the assessment reflects their dedication to continuously improving health services for their respective communities. for the pre-assessment of the Adolescent and Youth Health Development (AHYD) Friendly Facility, ORT Corner, and Cold Chain today.

Quality health care begins where people live, and it is strengthened through collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Making the most of the month as it draws to a close with the resumption of our AHYD, ORT, and Cold Chain Pre-Assessment Monitoring in preparation for the upcoming Regional and Provincial Assessments this October.

The monitoring team, composed of AHYD Program Coordinator Jorelyn B. Curato, ORT Coordinator Maries Angel Silvano, and Health Education and Promotion Officer Marlou Joseph P. Magtajas, conducted the pre-assessment monitoring at Barangay Benigno Aquino BHS, with its assigned midwife, Ma’am Jeychel Silvano, and at Barangay Poblacion BHS, with assigned midwife Ma’am Jocelyn Limpahan, together with our new NDP, Ma’am Rynna M. Magondaya.

We were also pleased with the active participation and positive feedback from the barangay officials, particularly their willingness to address identified gaps and make the necessary improvements ahead of the Regional and Provincial Assessments this October.

At Barangay Benigno Aquino, the barangay councilors were present alongside the BHWs and BNS, demonstrating their support for the health programs and their commitment to addressing the identified areas for improvement.

Meanwhile, at Barangay Poblacion, several barangay councilors, together with the Barangay Captain, Hon. Primo Pumicpic, were present during the feedbacking session. Hon. Pumicpic conveyed the barangay’s continued support and commitment to complying with the recommendations and addressing the identified deficiencies during today’s pre assessment.

These monitoring activities are more than just preparation for an assessment. They are opportunities to strengthen our systems, improve our services, and ensure that every health facility and barangay is better prepared to deliver quality healthcare to our communities.

Despite random tirades from unverified accounts in some of our page’s comment sections, relying on unverified information and making unfounded claims that may tarnish the reputation of vaccines that have been used for more than 50 years and have consistently demonstrated their value in protecting communities, we remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering safe, quality, and evidence-based vaccination services to our constituents.

True to this commitment, we conduct pre-conference and post-conference sessions as needed every time we carry out vaccination activities. These serve as an additional layer of protection, reinforcing proper vaccine handling, strict adherence to established protocols, readiness of emergency supplies and equipment in the unlikely event of an adverse occurrence, proper disposal of sharps and contaminated waste, and accurate and timely reporting.

These additional measures may require extra time, effort, and coordination, but they demonstrate our collective commitment to ensuring that every vaccination activity is conducted safely, responsibly, and in accordance with established standards.

At the heart of our work is our utmost respect for the inviolability and dignity of human life. We will continue to uphold this principle through responsible practice, evidence-based decision-making, and unwavering dedication to the health and safety of the people we serve, regardless of unfounded opinions or malicious claims.

We do not simply administer vaccines. We uphold standards, protect lives, and serve with accountability.

Special thanks to our MHO, Dr. Rex V. Samson, and our NIP Coordinator, Vivian D. Sagario, for leading this initiative and continuously strengthening our vaccination efforts.
