In Photo | At around 2040H July 30, 2026 Mr Ralph C Fundador, Fishery Section Chief of Mun. Agriculture Office reported that a FB Grace and Hope with code LBPZN-088Bn-M owned by Ms Cherry Ann A. Limpag of Brgy Talinga was hit by a whale shark ( balilan) while fishing at the coastal waters of Palandok, this municipality. Considering the impact of the incident, the boat partially sank due to damage sustained luckily, fellow fisherfolks were in the same area, a purse siene or ring net ( kubkubam) KAIFA owned by Norhaida Hambali of Brgy Palandok came to the rescue and ushered them to the shoreline.
7 crews onboard neither suffer fom any injury nor fatalities. Meanwhile, the combined efforts from MDRRMC thru Hon. Runie O. Jamora MDRRMO Marilou Malou Reganon Gimang Team Zulu headed by Mr. Edilberto Jumawan, Jr together with Arnel Hilongos, Jr, Mark Jandy Almine , Mr Joshua Lipapac and Domingo Rmg Nonoy Ajias Jr. joined with members of Bantay Dagat thru closed monitoring from Sir Ralph Fundador and Phil Coast Guard Leon B Postigo Outpost led by PO3 Badar T Abdullah and BDRRMO-
Palandok with Hon. Alcarim Leyson and Hon. Fahad Hambali monitored, assisted and offered transport to the crew on board to their respective homes however, they opted to remain in the area to secure safety of the fishing boat.
The owner were advised to report the matter to the PCIC for insurance claim.
A food and non food items will later be given to the respondents from MDRRMO and MSWDO while fuel incentive will be given to the responding boat owner. The total assessment of damage incurred will be determined by the Fishery Section Chief upon reporting of the owner to the office for the finalization of the Incident Report.
At around 0100 H July 31 2026 the responding team returned to station.
