BRP MIGUEL MALVAR (FFG6) played an active role in the Multinational Maritime Events (MME) of Balikatan 41-2026, operating alongside BRP ANTONIO LUNA (FFG15) and allied partner nations. As one of the Philippine Navy’s newest guided-missile frigates, FFG6 demonstrated its growing capability in complex and coordinated naval operations together with participating warships from the United States, Japan, Australia, and Canada.
Throughout the exercise, BRP MIGUEL MALVAR actively participated in a series of maritime drills, including communications exercises, Group Sail, PHOTOEX, Combined Anti-Submarine Warfare Exercise (CASEX), Gunnery Exercise (GUNNEX), Air Defense Exercise (ADEX), Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), Division Tactics, Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX), Replenishment at Sea (RAS) and Maritime Cooperative Activities (MCA). These activities further enhanced the crew’s operational readiness, strengthened interoperability with allied forces, and reinforced the ship’s capability to operate effectively in complex multinational maritime environments.
The participation of FFG6 underscores the Philippine Navy’s continuing capability development efforts and steadfast commitment to maritime security and regional cooperation. Through engagements such as Balikatan, BRP MIGUEL MALVAR contributes to strengthening defense partnerships, enhancing collective maritime coalition, and promoting a rules-based order.
