Empowering Vulnerable Sectors through Food Processing Training👩🍳
A two-day Skills Training on Food Processing was successfully conducted on July 9–10, 2025 at the South Central Mindanao College of Science and Technology, Inc. (SCMCSTI), in partnership with the Poverty Reduction Section of the CSWD Office.
The training kicked off with an opening program graced by Mr. Robert P. Batchar, , School President, Ms. Nancy B. Bawe, CSWD Officer and Ms. Charro B. Muyco, CICWC Section Head who inspired the participants with their warm and motivating messages.
During the first day of training, participants joined a Seminar-Workshop on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), where they learned about proper hygiene and safety in food production, and were introduced to essential kitchen tools. They later received a chorizo recipe and worked in groups to gather materials and ingredients.
On the second day, participants prepared patties and siomai, applying their skills through hands-on learning. A costing exercise followed, where they calculated expenses and estimated potential income.
At the end of the activity, Mrs. Remia P. Gabarlan, Population Officer I, encouraged participants to organize into groups. Each group will receive starter kits with items like a gas stove, steamer, and frying pan. Group leaders were also chosen to oversee materials and coordination.
This initiative was held in partnership with the Poverty Reduction Section, headed by Mrs. Josephine M. Ubaldo, and supported by Ms. Nancy M. Bawe, CSWD Officer. The training concluded with meaningful experiences and renewed motivation among participants.
👏 Congratulations to all participants! Here's to a future of empowered, skilled, and self-sustaining communities! 🌟
