Omar celebrates the 48th National Disability Rights Week from July 17–23, 2026, with the theme, “Rights First, Legislation Forward: Strategic Actions for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development.”

Hon. Mayor Abdulbaki J. Ajibon, together with the Municipal LGU of Omar, joins the observance in support of the rights, inclusion, and welfare of persons with disabilities.

Hon. Mayor Abdulbaki J. Ajibon attended the Turnover Ceremony of the Mangrove Silviculture Park led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform - the first in Sulu! This project will greatly benefit the people of Omar by promoting environmental protection and eco-tourism. It is indeed another milestone toward a more progressive Omar. A number of LGU-Omar employees were present to show their support for the project. The Mayor is also happy to share that more development projects are planned to further improve the Mangrove Silviculture Park.

The Municipal Government of Omar led the conduct of its regular Flag Raising Ceremony this morning, gathering officials and employees for a moment of unity, patriotism, and renewed commitment to public service.

Honorable Mayor Abdulbaki J. Ajibon and Vice Mayor Juddin Nur Pantasan graced the occasion, joined by department heads and municipal employees who stood together in observance of the national flag as a symbol of Filipino identity and unity.

Barangay Capual Island champions the Cooking Show Competition held today as part of the Municipality of Omar’s celebration of National Nutrition Month. Barangay Lahing-Lahing placed 1st Runner-up, while the Elementary Level Teachers finished as 2nd Runner-up. Barangay Capual Island also received the special awards for Best Main Dish, Best Vegetable Dish, and Best Presentation, highlighting the team’s outstanding culinary skills and creativity.

The activity brought together participants from different barangays and schools in promoting nutritious, affordable, and locally prepared meals. More than a contest, the cooking show served as an avenue to encourage healthy eating habits, showcase local ingredients, and strengthen community participation in support of the goals of National Nutrition Month.

The Municipality of Omar expresses its gratitude to Mayor Abdulbaki J. Ajibon for his unwavering support of programs that promote health, nutrition, and community development for the people of Omar.

Omar, lead the way

History has once again been made in the Municipality of Omar as it was officially declared a Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS) municipality. The historic declaration ceremony was attended by officials from the Philippine Army, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), local government officials, religious leaders, and other key stakeholders. This emphasized their shared commitment to lasting peace, security, and development in the municipality.

It can be recalled that Omar first made history as the first municipality to be declared Gun-Free and Rido-Free in Mindanao. Today, the municipality adds another huge achievement to its growing legacy, proving that Omar is truly a history-maker in advancing peace and stability.

This achievement proves the visionary, transformative, and effective leadership of Mayor Abdulbaki J. Ajibon, whose love and passion for good governance have inspired unity and progress in the municipality. Mayor Abdulbaki J. Ajibon Actively Participates in Provincial Infrastructure Governance Training

SULU PROVINCIAL CAPITOL, Conference Hall | July 14, 2026 — Demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the progress and development of the Municipality of Omar, Hon. Abdulbaki J. Ajibon actively participated in the “Laying the Groundwork for Transformative Local Infrastructure Governance in the Province of Sulu” held at the Sulu Provincial Capitol Conference Hall.

The activity gathered the mayors of all 19 municipalities of Sulu, together with their respective Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators (MPDCs), to strengthen local infrastructure governance and enhance collaboration in advancing sustainable development across the province.

The program commenced with an Acknowledgement of Participants by Emini T. Kadiri, Acting Provincial Director of DILG Sulu, followed by the Welcome Message of Governor Hon. Abdusakur A. Tan II. Discussions on Unpacking Local Infrastructure Governance were facilitated by Regional Director Pablio L. Benitez Jr., CESO V of DILG Region IX and Director IV Alfonso A. Maralli Jr., CESO IV of the Office of Project Development Services (OPDS).

Throughout the discussions, Mayor Ajibon stood out for his active engagement, raising relevant questions and seeking clarifications on matters directly affecting the Municipality of Omar. His participation reflected his love to ensuring that Omar benefits from every opportunity in improving its infrastructure planning and governance.
