PSA SORSOGON CELEBRATES 86 YEARS OF STATISTICS FOR A BETTER PHILIPPINES! 🇵🇭

From the Bureau of the Census and Statistics (BCS) to the National Census and Statistics Office (NCSO), then the National Statistics Office (NSO), and now the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)—the Philippine statistical system has continuously evolved to serve the nation.

On 19 August 1940, Commonwealth Act No. 591 established the Bureau of the Census and Statistics (BCS), laying the foundation for a stronger and more organized system of official statistics in the Philippines.

Today, the PSA continues this legacy by providing relevant, timely, accurate, and reliable statistics that help guide policies, inform decisions, and contribute to national development.

PSA Sorsogon joins the nation in celebrating the 86th Anniversary of Commonwealth Act No. 591, honoring the long history of Philippine official statistics and the people behind the data that help build a better future for every Filipino.

LOOK | Ube (Purple Yam) Production in the Philippines (April to June 2026)

Ube production from April to June 2026 reached 1,681.67 metric tons, the highest output recorded for the same quarter since 2010. This marks a 22.5% increase from the 1,372.91 metric tons recorded in the same quarter of 2025.

Among all regions, Cagayan Valley emerged as the country’s top producer, contributing 463.90 metric tons, or 27.6% of the total ube production during the quarter.
