01 September 2026 II BFP SURIGAO DEL NORTE JOINS THE GRAND OPENING OF PANAGHIUSA FESTIVAL 2026

𝗙𝗦𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗧 𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗘 𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗕𝗥𝗘, Provincial Fire Marshal, together with 𝗙𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗣 𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗣𝗛 𝗜𝗔𝗡 𝗦 𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗔, Municipal Fire Marshal of Claver Fire Station, actively participated in the Grand Opening of the Panaghiusa Festival 2026, held at the Claver Sports Arena.

The participation of the Bureau of Fire Protection in this meaningful celebration underscores its continued support for the local government and the community in promoting unity, camaraderie, public safety, and community resilience.

The Panaghiusa Festival serves as a celebration of the people of Claver—their culture, traditions, achievements, and shared aspirations for a more progressive and harmonious community. The BFP remains committed to ensuring that festivities such as this are celebrated safely and responsibly.

31 August 2026 II 56th CHARTER DAY OF SURIGAO

Under the leadership of FCSUPT HONEE FRITZ N ABANGAN-DIEL, DSC, Regional Director of BFP Caraga, the Surigao del Norte Provincial Headquarters, led by the Provincial Fire Marshal FSSUPT RICHIE E FABRE, joins the celebration of the 56th Charter Day of Surigao City.

The celebration brought together government agencies, uniformed personnel, local officials, and the community in commemorating another milestone in the history and development of the City of Surigao.

The BFP remains committed to strengthening its partnership with the local government and stakeholders in promoting public safety, disaster resilience, and a safer and more fire-safe community.

The courtesy call provided an opportunity to discuss shared priorities and reinforce the partnership between the BFP and the City Government of Surigao in promoting fire safety, public safety, and community resilience.

FIRE PREVENTION ADVISORY

Prevention of Grass Fires

The public is strongly reminded to exercise maximum caution and vigilance in preventing grass fires, especially now that we are exceptionally experiencing high temperatures and dry weather conditions. Prolonged heat can rapidly dry grass, leaves, vegetation, and other combustible materials, making them highly susceptible to ignition and allowing fire to spread quickly.

In this regard, everyone is urged to refrain from open burning, including the burning of dry grass, leaves, garbage, agricultural waste, and other combustible materials in open areas. Even a small and seemingly controlled fire can easily become uncontrollable due to hot, dry conditions and strong winds, potentially threatening homes, properties, agricultural areas, and nearby communities.

To help prevent grass fires and other fire incidents, the public is encouraged to: Avoid burning garbage, leaves, grass, and other combustible materials in open spaces. Properly dispose of dry vegetation and other waste through safe and authorized methods. Keep surroundings, vacant lots, and areas near homes free from dry grass and combustible materials. Never leave any fire unattended, especially during hot and dry weather. Extinguish cigarette butts, matches, and other sources of ignition properly. Immediately report any fire or smoke observed in grasslands, vacant lots, forests, or other open areas to the nearest fire station or appropriate authorities.

Fire prevention is a shared responsibility. One small flame can quickly become a destructive grass fire. By avoiding open burning and practicing responsible fire safety, everyone can help protect lives, property, and the environment.

Let us remain vigilant, especially during extreme heat. Prevent fires before they start.

Her message underscored that disaster resilience is not measured solely by how communities respond during emergencies, but by the continuous efforts invested in prevention, preparedness, education, and collaboration long before disasters occur.

Through strengthened partnerships and proactive public safety initiatives, the Bureau of Fire Protection remains steadfast in empowering communities to become more resilient against hazards and emergencies.

As the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month comes to a close, BFP Caraga reaffirms its unwavering commitment to promoting a culture of preparedness, reducing disaster risks, and protecting lives and property.
