𝗢𝗜𝗟 𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗘𝗫𝗘𝗥𝗖𝗜𝗦𝗘 | 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝟳𝟯-𝟳𝟴 𝗦𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗥

In support of the Marine Environmental Protection Enforcement Response Group – Northeastern Mindanao (MEPU-NEM), Coast Guard Station Bucas Grande actively participated in the Oil Spill Awareness and Emergency Response Training Exercise and Marine Pollution 73-78 Seminar conducted from 27 to 29 May 2026.

The three-day activity consisted of lectures held at the Socorro Women’s Center and a practical training exercise conducted at Navarro Port, Socorro, Surigao del Norte. Participants included personnel from Coast Guard Station Bucas Grande, Philippine National Police (PNP) Socorro, and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Socorro.

The activity aimed to strengthen inter-agency coordination, enhance awareness on marine environmental protection, and improve preparedness and response capabilities during oil spill incidents and marine pollution emergencies.

Coast Guard Station Bucas Grande remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the marine environment through continuous training, collaboration, and proactive environmental stewardship.

NOTICE TO MARINERS 001

Notice is hereby given to all mariners and other parties concerned that:

1. Fishing Lure Competition 2026” will be conducted on 23 May 2026 within the municipal waters of Socorro, Brgy Doña Helene, Socorro, Surigao del Norte. The activity will start at 05:00 o’clock in the morning on 23 May 2026 with the following coordinates;

Point A. 09°37' North Latitude
Point B. 125°58' East Longitude
Point C. 09°37'N, 125°58'E

2. In connection thereto, all vessels navigating within the vicinity are advised to exercise extra caution due to the presence of participating boats and fishing activities in the designated competition areas.

3. Participants and concerned organizers shall strictly observe maritime safety regulations, including the mandatory wearing of life vests and compliance with existing maritime laws and environmental policies.

4. Coast Guard personnel shall provide monitoring and maritime safety assistance during the duration of the activity.

5. All mariners are advised to maintain safe distance from the activity area and keep a proper lookout at all times.

For the month of April, all sub-stations under Coast Guard Station Bucas Grande led by the Station Commander, , Ensign Michael Young P Glimane PCG, conducted a Coastal Clean-Up drive, reaffirming our commitment to protecting the marine environment and preserving the beauty of our shorelines.

With unity and purpose, personnel worked hand in hand in clearing coastal areas of waste—preventing marine pollution, safeguarding marine life, and promoting a culture of environmental responsibility within the community.

This initiative is more than just a clean-up activity. It is a reminder that every small action counts in protecting our oceans. As guardians of the sea, we remain dedicated not only to ensuring maritime safety but also to preserving the natural resources that sustain life.

In a united effort to protect and preserve our environment, all sub-stations under Coast Guard Station Bucas Grande led by the Station Commander, Ensign Michael Young P Glimane PCG, came together for a meaningful tree planting activity for this month of April, demonstrating not only our commitment to maritime safety and security, but also to environmental stewardship.

This initiative is more than just planting trees. It is about nurturing life, restoring balance, and ensuring that the next generation inherits a greener, safer, and more sustainable Bucas Grande. Each seedling planted represents hope—hope for stronger coastlines, richer biodiversity, and a resilient ecosystem that can withstand the challenges of time and climate.

With dedication and teamwork, personnel from every sub-station actively participated, proving that collective action can create lasting impact. From preparing the ground to carefully placing each seedling, every effort reflects our shared responsibility as protectors not only of our waters but also of our natural resources.

CGDNEM on Heightened Alert for a Safe and Orderly Semana Santa & Summer Vacation 2026
The Coast Guard District Northeastern Mindanao (CGDNEM), under the leadership of Commodore Dennis Rem C Labay PCG, together with all Stations, Sub-Stations, and Operational Control Units will be placed on HEIGHTENED ALERT STATUS in anticipation of the influx of passengers expected to travel through Caraga’s ports during Semana Santa and the Summer Vacation 2026 season effective 28 March 2026 to 05 April 2026.
This heightened alert forms part of the Philippine Coast Guard’s nationwide preparedness measures to address increased passenger traffic and maritime activities during the holiday period. CGDNEM, in coordination with Coast Guard units, port authorities, shipping companies, and maritime stakeholders, will intensify monitoring, inspection, and safety operations to ensure the safe, secure, and orderly movement of passengers and vessels within its area of responsibility.
PCG personnel will be strategically deployed across ports and coastal areas to provide assistance and maintain a strong security presence, ensuring public safety throughout the observance.
CGDNEM reminds all travelers to plan ahead, comply with port safety and security regulations, and remain vigilant for a safe and smooth journey.

LOOK: In celebration of Women’s Month, Coast Guard Station Bucas Grande personnel conducted a feeding program to support and uplift the local community, especially women and children of Brgy. Pamosaingan, Socorro, Surigao del Norte on 26 March 2026.

Through this activity, nutritious meals were shared with the children, bringing smiles, joy, and a sense of care from the community. More than nourishment, it served as a reminder of the importance of supporting both children and the women who guide and care for them every day.

Coast Guard Station Bucas Grande remains committed to extending service beyond duty—promoting compassion, unity, and support for the well-being of every child and every family.
