The RA 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women affirms that women’s rights are human rights. It guarantees Filipino women equal opportunities, protection from discrimination, and full participation in all areas of society, especially those belonging to marginalized sectors. By ensuring these rights are recognized, respected, protected, fulfilled, and promoted, the law empowers women to fully contribute to nation-building and social development.

As we observe World Day of Social Justice 2026, themed “Renewed Commitment to Social Development and Social Justice,” we are reminded that true social justice is only possible when women are included, valued, and given equal opportunity to thrive.

The PCW continually calls on all sectors to address inequalities and gender disparities that limit women’s participation. Let us stand for equality, challenge injustices, and build a society where women and children can fully exercise their rights and reach their potential.

A just society is one where equality is real for all women and children. 💜

Women’s Month is not merely a celebration but has always been a reminder, continuing call for equality, dignity, and respect for all.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga underscores that promoting women’s rights is essential to building safe, inclusive, and equitable communities.

Objectification and degrading remarks toward women, men, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community—even when framed as humor or imagination—undermine human dignity and perpetuate attitudes that enable harassment, discrimination, and violence.

These actions run contrary to the principles upheld under Republic Act No. 11313 or Bawal Bastos Law, which affirms every person’s right to safety, dignity, and respect in all spaces.

As we observe National Women’s Month, DSWD Caraga reiterates that advancing gender equality is a shared responsibility. Respect for every person strengthens families, protects children, and builds communities where all can live free from discrimination, harassment, and violence.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Today we are celebrating all women worldwide, thank you for your contributions and for bringing so much happiness to our lives.

We are especially grateful to the wonderful women who make our movement possible.

Thank you to all our volunteers, course leaders, expert speakers, those who share the calendar or inspire others, and everyone who takes any action for happiness however big or small.

Thank you for choosing to centre joy, care and wellbeing and thank you for building a happier, kinder world.

This year the UN theme is “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls”, and it calls for action to dismantle all barriers to equal justice: discriminatory laws, weak legal protections, and harmful practices and social norms that erode the rights of women and girls.

The UN found that in nearly 70 per cent of surveyed countries, women face more barriers accessing justice than men. 44% of countries do not have laws that guarantee equal pay. 3 in 4 countries still permit child marriage cutting short childhoods, education and futures.

We celebrate the women’s movement worldwide and we are grateful to our supporters for choosing equality.

The Local Government Unit of Madrid, Surigao del Sur, under the leadership of Mayor Juan Paolo L. Lopez, Vice Mayor Glenn F. Teves and Sangguniang Bayan Members have taken another decisive step in the fight against illegal drugs.

This commitment was formalized through a ceremonial Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing with the Local Government Unit of Mainit, Surigao del Norte, led by Mayor Ramon B. Mondano, and representatives from other participating Local Government Units.

This landmark collaboration officially grants Madrid access to the MAPASO Balay Silangan Reformation Center in Mainit, ensuring that our constituents committed to reformation receive the necessary rehabilitation and support to become productive members of society.
