The testing and sealing of weighing instruments is an essential regulatory activity that ensures the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of weighing devices used in commercial transactions. This process protects consumers and businesses by ensuring that all weighing instruments comply with the prescribed standards and tolerances established by the appropriate government regulatory authority.
The conduct of testing and sealing of weighing instruments is a vital function in maintaining measurement accuracy and ensuring fairness in trade. Through systematic inspection, testing, verification, and official sealing, weighing instruments are certified to operate within acceptable standards, thereby protecting both consumers and business establishments while promoting public trust in commercial measurement systems.
(IN PHOTOS) The staff of the Municipal Treasury-Suyo, Ilocos Sur conducted the testing and sealing of weighing instruments used by business establishments within the municipality to ensure compliance with legal metrology standards. Standard test weights were used to verify the accuracy of each weighing instrument. Instruments that met the prescribed allowable tolerances were officially sealed and certified for commercial use. Findings, test results, and the corresponding seal numbers were properly documented. Business owners were advised to maintain their weighing instruments in good working condition and to refrain from making unauthorized adjustments after sealing.
In support of consumer protection and fair trade practices, the Local Government Unit, through the Office of the Municipal Treasurer /Business Permits and Licensing Office, conducted the annual testing and sealing of weighing instruments used by business establishments.
This activity ensures that business establishments operate with accurate measuring devices, promotes transparency in commercial transactions, safeguards consumer welfare, and supports the enforcement of existing legal metrology laws and local ordinances.
(IN PHOTOS) BPLO-Designate conducted inspections of commercial establishments to ensure compliance with applicable national laws, local ordinances, and business permit requirements. The inspection aimed to verify that business establishments are operating legally, maintaining valid permits and licenses, and complying with health, sanitation, fire safety, zoning, environmental, and other regulatory standards required by the Local Government Unit (LGU).The inspection was conducted in a professional and impartial manner to promote public safety, consumer protection, and fair business practices. Inspection findings were properly documented and will serve as the basis for appropriate recommendations, monitoring, and enforcement actions in accordance with existing laws and local regulations.
