Under the supervision of JSSUPT RILL F SONON, it is both an honor and a privilege for our office, the Leyte Norte District Jail, to actively participate in the Provincial Audit Committee (PAC) Assessment for the 2025 Peace and Order Council (POC) Performance Audit spearheaded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Leyte Provincial Office thru Provincial Director JOHANNES DORADO.

JSUPT JIM ARIZA BURANDAY, as the Jail Provincial Administrator of Leyte Norte, was proud to represent the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in this important undertaking that strengthens collaboration among local government units and national agencies in promoting peace, public safety, security, and good governance throughout the Province of Leyte.

This engagement reflects the unwavering commitment to the BJMP mandate of fostering safer communities through professionalism, accountability, and inter-agency cooperation. Together, we continue to build a stronger, more resilient, and more peaceful Leyte for every Leyteño.

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Leyte is intensifying initiatives to tackle persistent jail overcrowding, a perennial challenge affecting detention facilities across the country.

In the recent Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), the data presented by the BJMP indicate that several jails around the province are below capacity. To address the high congestion rate, a range of measures is being implemented, including expanded infrastructure projects, upgrading existing structures, and accelerating the resolution of court cases with the help of enhanced paralegal programs.
