𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐭. 𝐀𝐩𝐨 𝐀𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐂𝐎 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤!

As Mt. Apo undergoes its field validation mission with evaluators from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Dr. Guy Martini of France and Mr. Chenggong Zhang of China, we extend our full support and best wishes on its journey toward becoming a UNESCO Global Geopark.

The Bohol Island UNESCO Global Geopark proudly stands with Mt. Apo and supports its bid to join the global network of UNESCO Global Geoparks. May this mission further showcase the remarkable geological, biological, and cultural heritage of Mt. Apo, as well as the communities who have long protected and cared for this living heritage.

Mt. Apo’s bid is a testament to the Philippines’ rich geological heritage and vibrant culture, as well as to the dedication of Filipino communities in conserving and protecting these treasures through a strong, community-driven, bottom-up approach.

When communities take the lead in protecting their heritage, the impact reaches far beyond boundaries.

The future of our UNESCO Global Geopark lies in the hands of our youth.

The Provincial Government of Bohol through the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) is proud to announce the upcoming Bohol Island Geopark Sandugo Youth Leaders' Camp, scheduled for August 21–22, 2026.

As the Philippines' first UNESCO Global Geopark, Bohol thrives when its young leaders are empowered to lead with a sense of purpose and pride. This camp is more than a leadership training; it is a space for young Boholanos to connect with their heritage and embrace their role as stewards of our extraordinary landscapes and culture.

This initiative directly supports the Geoeducation and Networking pillars of the Geopark, ensuring that our designation is understood and championed by the next generation, working toward a sustainable and inclusive future for all Boholanos.

Stay tuned as we prepare to welcome our passionate young leaders for a transformative experience of learning and inspiration!

During the PANAGTAPOK: A Gathering in Stewardship Opening Meeting, Gay Alfred Blanco of the UNESCO National Commission (UNACOM) of the Philippines delivered the message of Dr. Ivan Henares, UNACOM Secretary General. The message highlighted that while our limestone formations and hills are majestic, our truest legacy lies in the community’s spirit of conservation.

Through the Geopark Pillar of Networking, we connect our local efforts to a global mission of protecting the Earth by fostering a culture where every Boholano is a guardian of our natural heritage.
