The Coast Guard Investigation and Detection Management Service (CGIDMS), 𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗧 𝗟𝗘𝗢𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗗𝗢 𝗗𝗚 𝗔𝗣𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗘𝗦 𝗝𝗥 𝗣𝗖𝗚, together with 𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗧 𝗘𝗟𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗪𝗜𝗡 𝗖 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗗 𝗣𝗖𝗚, Deputy Commander, and other CGIDMS officers attended the Regular Committee Meeting on the Updates on the Actions and Policy Reforms Implemented by Maritime Agencies (MARINA, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine Ports Authority) following the M/V Trisha Kerstin 3 incident. The meeting was held on July 29, 2026 at the Belmonte Hall, House of Representatives, Quezon City.

During the meeting, 𝗥𝗔𝗗𝗠 𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗦 𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗢 𝗣𝗖𝗚, the Coast Guard Inspector General, together with 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗢 𝗙𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗦 𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗢 𝗣𝗖𝗚, Commander of the Maritime Casualty Investigation Service, presented the Philippine Coast Guard's ongoing initiatives to strengthen maritime safety and operational standards. These include enhancements to Pre-Departure Inspection (PDI) competencies, stricter inspection protocols in domestic ports, strengthened Vessel Safety Enforcement Inspections (VSEI), Annual Regulatory Evaluations (ARE), and intensified emergency preparedness training programs.

The discussion reaffirmed the commitment of maritime agencies to continuously improve maritime safety, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and promote safer and more secure maritime transportation for the riding public.

𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗼 𝗗𝗚 𝗔𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗝𝗿. 𝗣𝗖𝗚, Commander, Coast Guard Investigation and Detection Management Service (CGIDMS), together with 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝗹𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗖 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗱 𝗣𝗖𝗚, Deputy Commander, CGIDMS, participated in the PCG–ABF Maritime Law Enforcement Workshop and Tabletop Exercise held at Somerset Central Salcedo, Makati City.

Serving as panelists, Captain Apillanes and Captain Natividad highlighted the Philippine Coast Guard's criminal investigation capabilities, showcasing the role of CGIDMS in conducting criminal investigations, case build-up, evidence handling, inter-agency coordination, and case filing in support of maritime law enforcement operations. They also shared operational experiences, strategic insights, and recommendations aimed at further strengthening the PCG's maritime law enforcement capability. The activity provided a valuable platform for meaningful discussions, inter-agency collaboration, and the exchange of best practices in addressing evolving maritime security challenges.

The workshop underscores the enduring partnership between the Philippine Coast Guard and the Australian Border Force in promoting regional maritime security, strengthening operational readiness, and advancing professional excellence in maritime law enforcement through enhanced cooperation and knowledge sharing.

The Coast Guard Investigation and Detection Management Service (CGIDMS) was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation during the 365 Days Commemoration of the Sustained Multi-Agency Operation for the Missing Sabungeros at Taal Lake.

The recognition was presented by 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗼 𝗕 𝗧𝘂𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗣𝗖𝗚, Commander, Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog, under the leadership of 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗚𝗶𝗹 𝗟 𝗚𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗖𝗚, Commandant, Philippine Coast Guard, during the ceremony held at the Incident Command Post, Taal Lake, Laurel, Batangas, on 22 July 2026. The ceremony was attended by 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗼 𝗗𝗚 𝗔𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗝𝗿. 𝗣𝗖𝗚, Commander, Coast Guard Investigation and Detection Management Service (CGIDMS).

This recognition stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication, professionalism, and commitment of all responders, investigators, partner agencies, and volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the year-long operation. CGIDMS extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog and all collaborating agencies for this meaningful recognition. On 17 July 2026, Coast Guard personnel conducting a routine inspection at a construction site inside Coast Guard Base Taguig caught a construction worker in the act of using dangerous drugs inside the workers' temporary barracks. During the inspection, the responding personnel likewise recovered suspected dangerous drugs and illegal drug paraphernalia from the suspect's possession.

The incident was immediately reported to the Duty Petty Officer of the Watch (DPOW), prompting the immediate response of duty personnel, the Coast Guard K9 Team, and investigators from the Coast Guard Investigation and Detection Management Service (CGIDMS). The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights, lawfully arrested, and temporarily detained pending investigation.

The marking, inventory, and photographing of the seized items were conducted in accordance with Section 21 of R.A. No. 9165 as amended by RA 10640, in the presence of the required witness. Thereafter, the suspect was brought to the CGIDMS Headquarters at Coast Guard Base Taguig for further investigation and the filing of the appropriate complaint before the Office of the Prosecutor.

The Philippine Coast Guard remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and drug-free environment within its installations. It shall continue to enforce the law with professionalism, integrity, and respect for due process while strengthening its campaign against the illegal use, possession, and proliferation of dangerous drugs within its facilities.

The visit aimed to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and further reinforce the longstanding partnership between the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the NBI on 29 June 2026.

During the meeting, both agencies discussed prospective joint operations, enhanced intelligence and investigative coordination, and future capability enhancement initiatives, including specialized training programs for personnel of both organizations. The discussions also emphasized the importance of sustaining close operational coordination in addressing maritime and transnational crimes within their respective mandates.

Furthermore, both agencies agreed to formally reiterate the existing Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Philippine Coast Guard and the National Bureau of Investigation in a future engagement. The planned reiteration will reaffirm their commitment to continued collaboration through information sharing, operational support, joint training, and capacity-building initiatives in pursuit of their shared law enforcement objectives.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The Maritime Security Law Enforcement Command (MARSLEC), facilitated through the Coast Guard Investigation and Detection Management Service, conducted a 5-day Instructor Candidate Course (ICC) for Criminal Investigation in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), led by Commander Takanori Akagi, JCG, at HMARSLEC, Coast Guard Base Taguig, New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City, from 22 to 26 June 2026.

As part of the ongoing partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to further strengthen the capabilities of the Philippine Coast Guard, the course was facilitated by instructors from the Japan Coast Guard. The training aimed to enhance the participants' knowledge and skills in DSLR camera operation, fingerprint collection techniques, crime scene investigation procedures, and the preparation and presentation of Crime Scene Investigation reports. The program also provided hands-on practical exercises to ensure that participants gained both theoretical understanding and operational proficiency.

Moreover, the initiative reaffirmed the collective commitment of participating agencies toward advancing public service and ensuring national security. Through these interactions, participating agencies can explore opportunities for joint training, knowledge sharing, and capacity-building initiatives.

Ultimately, these visits contribute to a more effective inter-agency cooperation and successful implementation of future collaborative operations.

In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr’s anti-illegal drugs campaign, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) through Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Batangas City and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Seaport Interdiction Unit (PDEA-SIU), seized 2.72 million pesos worth of suspected shabu at Zone, Port of Batangas, Barangay Sta. Clara, Batangas City, on June 21, 2026.

In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr’s anti-illegal drugs campaign, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) through Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Batangas City and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Seaport Interdiction Unit (PDEA-SIU), seized 2.72 million pesos worth of suspected shabu at Zone, Port of Batangas, Barangay Sta. Clara, Batangas City, on June 21, 2026.

Based on the report, CGSS Batangas City received a call from the port security regarding the alleged illegal substance, which concealed inside a black jacket during routine security screening.

After receiving the information, the CGSS Batangas City together with the CGK9 Team Batangas and PDEA-SIU Batangas immediately conducted a paneling inspection of the confiscated item which later on, yielded positive indications for narcotics.

During the investigation, the authorities seized two plastic sachets containing 400 grams of suspected shabu amounting Php 2,720,000.00. Also, authorities recovered driver’s license and a passenger ticket bound to Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

The suspect and the confiscated items were taken into the custody of PDEA-SIU Batangas for laboratory examination and proper disposition.
