🌳 "Planting Hope for a Greener Talakag" 🌱

Last day, I was honored to join the people of sitio Tangkulan, our collective effort to care for our environment through an symbolic tree planting activity. Each tree we plant is more than just a seed in the ground β€” it is a symbol of hope, life, and our shared responsibility to protect the land that sustains us.

As one of your councilors in the Municipality of Talakag, I firmly believe that environmental protection is not just a program but a commitment for future generations. Through small and consistent actions like this, we are taking big steps toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Bukidnon.

Let us continue working hand in hand β€” government, community, and youth β€” to ensure that Talakag remains a place where nature thrives and people live in harmony with it. πŸŒΏπŸ’š tnx kag.meriam and idol George lucas

To our honorable Mayor Renz Sulatan Jr., Vice Mayor Vergito Factura, fellow Councilors, Department Heads, especially to our Municipal Adinistrator Alberto Bigcas, Uniformed Personnel, Barangay Officials, guests, and the people of our beloved municipality β€”Good Morning, Maayad ha Masulom.

Today marks 28 days since I took the oath of office β€” a short span in time, yet filled with meaningful learning, honest conversations, and the beginnings of important work. It has been a time of listening more than speaking, understanding more than acting, and laying a strong foundation before building anything new.

I want to begin by expressing my deepest gratitude to the people who entrusted me with this responsibility. Your faith in me is not something I take lightly. Every single day, I am reminded that public service is not a position of power β€” it is a position of responsibility, humility, and service.

In these 28 days, I have met with community members, spoken with civil servants, and walked through our streets with a fresh pair of eyes β€” not just as a resident, but as a representative. I’ve heard your hopes, your frustrations, and your ideas. I’ve seen the challenges we face β€” from infrastructure gaps and service delivery concerns to youth unemployment. But I have also seen our greatest strength: the resilience and spirit of our people.

This early period has been about laying the groundwork. I have begun engaging in policy discussions, participating in council meetings, and joining hands with fellow councilors to align our goals. Progress, of course, doesn’t happen overnight. But I am committed to the long-term β€” to consistency, to accountability, and to transparent leadership.

As we look ahead, my focus will remain on inclusive development, community-driven projects, and ensuring that every voice β€” especially those often unheard β€” is part of our decision-making process. I am here not to promise perfection, but to promise effort, presence, and integrity every single day.

This convocation is more than a ceremony. It is a symbol of commitment β€” that your leaders are united in purpose, ready to face challenges with transparency, and driven by a common goal: to make our municipality more progressive, more inclusive, and more resilient.

Let us move forward together β€” with vision, courage, and compassion.

To my fellow officials: may we always put service above self.
To our constituents: know that your voices matter β€” and I am here to hear them.
To our youth, elders, workers, and families: you are the heart of this community, and you are the reason we serve.

I once took my very first flight on an airplane with my father. It wasn’t for a vacation or an adventure. We were traveling for his medical treatment β€” a journey filled with uncertainty, worry, and quiet strength.

I still remembered how nervous I was. Not just because it was my first time flying, but because I could see the toll his illness was taking on him. Yet even in his condition, my father remained calm. He comforted me, held my hand, and made me feel like everything would be okay β€” even though we both knew we were flying toward something we couldn’t fully control.

That trip stayed with me for the rest of my life. It was more than a flight; it was a moment that marked the beginning of my deeper understanding of sacrifice, love, and resilience.

My father later passed away due to his condition. Losing him left a hole in my heart, but his strength never left me. It lived on in his lessons, his example, and his belief in service to others.

Last week, I found myself boarding another flight β€” but for a very different reason. I wasn’t flying as a worried son anymore. I was flying as a public servant, as a councilor, carrying the hopes and trust of the people who elected me.

I traveled not just with luggage, but with purpose β€” with the pride of my community and the memory of my father close to my heart.

That journey β€” from sitting beside my father during his time of need, to standing as a representative of the people β€” reminded me that every flight tells a story. Mine began with love and hardship, and it continues with duty and service.
