Lanao del Sur leaders reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to peace and security during the 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗻-𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗪) held at the Taraka Gymnasium on May 19, 2026, as part of the government’s continuing Normalization Process under the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro.

​A total of 108 loose fi****ms were voluntarily surrendered by the municipalities of Tamparan, Taraka, Lumba-Bayabao, and Mulondo—demonstrating the collective resolve of local government units, communities, and security sectors to strengthen peacebuilding efforts and uphold public safety across the Bangsamoro region. This milestone aligns directly with the priority agenda of BARMM Chief Minister Abdulraof "Sammy" Macacua, who has consistently placed peace and order at the forefront of his administration's vision for regional stability and development.

In his message of support, 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻 𝗨. 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 emphasized that achieving lasting peace remains a fundamental legislative mandate under the Bangsamoro Organic Law. He underscored the importance of strong Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) mechanisms and sustained collaboration among national agencies, BARMM leadership, local government units, and the security sector in ensuring the success of the decommissioning and normalization process.
The ceremony was witnessed by OPAPRU Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento and attended by key officials from the AFP, PNP, and local government units, including:

𝗗𝗲𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗣 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝘆. 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻 𝗨. 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 recently visited the newly appointed Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) Secretary Mel Senen S. Sarmiento.
Beyond the formal courtesy, the meeting served as a heartfelt reunion. Deputy Speaker Sumagayan honors Secretary Sarmiento as his longtime mentor from the Galing Pook Foundation, whose guidance helped shape his vision for local governance and public service.

As Secretary Sarmiento takes the helm of the country’s peace agenda, the Office of the Deputy Speaker reaffirms its absolute commitment to working closely with OPAPRU to foster unity, reconciliation, and progress across the Bangsamoro and the entire country.

Mga lider na pinagbubuklod ng iisang layunin na isulong ang pagkakaisa, maayos na pamamahala, at serbisyong may malasakit para sa bawat komunidad sa ating lalawigan at sa buong rehiyon. Sa kabila ng magkakaibang karanasan, iisa ang direksyon ng kanilang pagtutulungan tungo sa mas maayos at mas progresibong kinabukasan. Ang kanilang sama-samang pagkilos ay patunay na ang tapat na paglilingkod ay hindi nasusukat sa tagal, kundi sa tunay na dedikasyon at malasakit para sa mamamayan.

Nananatili ang kanilang dedikasyon sa pagsusulong ng mga adhikaing magdadala ng positibong pagbabago, inklusibong pag-unlad, at mas mapayapang komunidad para sa lahat ng mamamayan ng Lanao del Sur at ng buong Bangsamoro.
