"You Talk, We Act." 💙💚

It was a joy to sit down and listen to our youth leaders. The young people of today carry many ideas, and they are worth exploring. Every conversation like this reminds us that a city grows when it makes room for its youth to speak, and when those in public service truly listen.

Going to university will always have its value, and I encourage every young person who can to pursue it. But for those who are unable to, opportunities have not closed. The path may come with more challenges, yet there are part-time jobs, trainings, and skills programs that can open doors. With patience and hard work, whatever choice we make, we will find our way.

From small beginnings and small initiatives, stronger partnerships are born.

Thank you to the organizers: Provincial PESO Manager Ma'am Maria Lira "Mara" Reyes, City PESO Manager Ms. Gina Garcia, Ms. Angelica D. Suba of PESO Tarlac Province for the PESO-TCLASS presentation, and Mr. Mar-Anthony Santos, Acting Tarlac City LYDO.

Happy Teachers' Day! 🍎

To all teachers, in every school, community, and corner of our country: thank you. Your dedication, patience, and quiet sacrifices shape the minds and hearts of our children and, in turn, the future of our nation.

To the teachers of Tarlac City, my heartfelt gratitude and deepest respect. Your service and malasakit for our learners are valued, and it is an honor to serve alongside you in building a better city for our youth.

May you always feel the appreciation and support you deserve, today and every day.

✝️ 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time
📖 Matthew 21:33–43

📖 THE GOSPEL

Jesus said to the chief priests and elders:
"There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a hedge around it, dug a w**e press in it, and built a tower. Then he leased it to tenants and went on a journey.

When vintage time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to obtain his produce. But the tenants seized the servants — one they beat, another they killed, another they stoned.
Finally, he sent his son, thinking 'They will respect my son.' But when the tenants saw the son, they said 'Let us kill him and acquire his inheritance.' They seized him, threw him out, and killed him.

Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit."

💭 REFLECTION

We've all seen it — people given trust, opportunity, and responsibility, who somewhere along the way forgot why they were given it in the first place. And instead of being grateful and delivering what was expected, they protect their position, abuse what was entrusted to them, and refuse to be accountable.

If we're honest — it's one of the most frustrating things to witness. Especially when you know what genuine stewardship looks like.

But before pointing at others, this Gospel makes me pause and ask myself — am I doing right by what has been entrusted to me? My responsibilities, my relationships, the people counting on me? Because that question is worth sitting with too.

And here's what life has taught me — abusing what you're given always catches up. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But trust erodes quietly. And one day you look around and realize the position is gone, the respect is gone, and sometimes even the people you counted on are no longer there.

So the real question this Gospel leaves us with — was it ever really worth it? 🩵

This morning, we distributed rice to 421 beneficiaries of Brgy. Calingcuan! 🌾

Our heartfelt thanks to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. for the Bawat Bayan Makikinabang program, and to Mayor Susan Yap for her continued care for every Tarlaqueño.

I was joined by Councilor Jerome Lapeña, Councilor ARO Mendoza, and Brgy. Captain Justine Rodriguez.

Thank you, Brgy. Captain Fortun of Calingcuan, for the warm welcome and the well-organized distribution.

Our sincere thanks to the Mayap Ladies, BHWs, Barangay Tanod, volunteers, and the staff of the Mayor's Office and the Barangay Affairs Office. Your dedication kept everything running smoothly and orderly. 🙏

Presided over this afternoon's tripartite committee meeting on the proposed integration of Tarlac City into the Province-Wide Health System 🏥

Joined by Councilors Jerome Lapeña, Emy Ladera, Henry De Leon, Cesar Go, and Weng Quiroz.

Thank you to our resource persons — Harold Embate (Provincial DOH), Flor Fernando (representing Dr. Teodora Reyes, Acting Provincial Health Officer), Dr. Carmela Go (City Health Officer), Romy De Leon (City Budget Officer), Roland Domingo (City Accountant), Agnes Torres (City Treasurer), and Arch. Quintero (CPDO) — for attending.

Additional documents were requested for review before we reconvene for another meeting. 📋

Today is bittersweet — 3 years since Mom went to heaven, and my youngest sister's birthday.

For years, this day carried a quiet ache — Mom passing on the very day my sister was born. But Fr. Randy Salunga gave us a beautiful new way to see it: instead of remembering this as the day Mom passed, my sister can now think of it as Mom's birthday in heaven — and it just so happens to fall on her own birthday here on earth.

Two birthdays, one beautiful day. In a world with so much sadness, sometimes all it takes is choosing to see things differently.

So today, we say it with full hearts: Happy 3rd birthday in heaven, Mom. And happy birthday to my dear sister, born the same day Mom now celebrates hers above.

This year carries extra weight. My sister's homecoming was clouded by the loss of her father-in-law, and just yesterday, we said goodbye to Hachi, her beloved dog who's been part of our family here in the Philippines.

Grief upon grief, but love upon love too. We hold on to the good memories — Mom's presence, Hashi's companionship — and cherish even more those still here with us.

To my sister: happy birthday. Sending you strength and comfort today. We love you. And as you and your family head back to the US tomorrow, safe travels — until we all meet again.🩵

📖 THE GOSPEL

"What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He came to the first and said, 'Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.' The son said, 'I will not,' but afterwards changed his mind and went.

The man came to the other son and said the same thing. This son said, 'Yes, sir,' but did not go.
Which of the two did his father's will?"
They answered, "The first."

Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you. For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him, but tax collectors and prostitutes did."

💭 REFLECTION

We all know people who say all the right things — who agree, who commit, who sound so convincing. But when it's time to actually deliver, the excuses start. The silence begins. And somehow, what was promised never quite materializes.

It happens everywhere — in families, in friendships, in workplaces, in communities. And if we're being honest, it's one of the most quietly frustrating things to experience.

This Gospel reminds us — it's never about who speaks the best intentions. It's about who actually delivers. Words are easy. Follow-through is where character shows. 🩵

And maybe the harder but more honest question it asks each one of us — are we also guilty of this in any area of our own life? Because before we notice it in others, it's worth sitting with that question ourselves.
