As rain clouds gathered and the Enhanced Southwest Monsoon brought persistent rains on August 17โ18, 2026, the classrooms of Agtas Elementary School grew quietโbut learning did not.
With face-to-face classes suspended for the safety of learners and personnel, the school shifted to Modular Distance Learning (MDL), bringing lessons from the classroom into the safety of learnersโ homes. Guided by DepEdโs HINAY (Ease-In) Protocol, teachers adjusted learning activities and expectations, recognizing that during weather-related disruptions, education must remain flexible, manageable, and responsive to learnersโ circumstances.
Modules became bridges between teachers and pupils. Behind every learning activity was a simple but powerful message: safety comes first, but learning can continue. Teachers remained ready to guide, parents became partners at home, and learners carried onโone page and one lesson at a time.
For Agtas Elementary School, the two-day disruption was more than a shift in learning modality. It was a reminder that education is not confined within four classroom walls. When the rains grow stronger, Agtas ES chooses safety. When circumstances demand change, it adapts. And even when the school doors temporarily close, the doors to learning remain open.
