Family Fun Day 2026: “Pamilya ug Edukasyon: Giya sa Malampusong Kaugmaon”

06 March 2026 : The school community came together to celebrate Family Fun Day with the inspiring theme “Pamilya ug Edukasyon: Giya sa Malampusong Kaugmaon.” The event highlighted the importance of strong family support in the education and overall development of children. Parents, learners, teachers, and community partners gathered in a lively atmosphere filled with laughter, teamwork, and meaningful bonding.

The program began with an energetic opening hosted by Graceale L. Fernandez and Joyce Ann Y. Bongas, who warmly welcomed the parents, learners, and guests. Shortly after the opening, simultaneous games were conducted in different areas of the venue, bringing excitement and active participation among families.

One of the most exciting activities was the volleyball game using a giant beach ball, played by parents according to grade level. Despite the scorching heat of the sun, parents enthusiastically gave their best, tossing, and cheering for their teams. Though exhausting, the game was filled with laughter, cheers, and friendly competition. The activity was skillfully facilitated by the school head Sir Enrique N. Amaro Jr., with the assistance of Sir Moses M. Corlet, ensuring that everyone enjoyed the game safely and fairly.

Meanwhile, at the left wing under the parabolic tent, another exciting parlor game called Egg Catching was facilitated by Master Teacher Ma’am Nympha Y. Galupo. In this activity, a parent—either a mother or father—partnered with their child to carefully catch and pass eggs without breaking them. The game required patience, coordination, and teamwork, making it both challenging and entertaining. It beautifully symbolized the trust and cooperation between parents and their children.

Another crowd-favorite activity was the Photo Shoot Challenge, which encouraged family participation and creativity. Families grouped by grade level were tasked to portray different emotions and expressions through acting and poses. The families who best expressed the assigned emotions and demonstrated outstanding acting skills were declared winners. The activity filled the area with smiles, laughter, and warm embraces as families captured memorable moments together, making the celebration even more meaningful and unforgettable

In the afternoon, the Mass Calisthenics Contest by Grade Level became one of the most exciting highlights of the Family Day celebration. Each group of learners confidently showcased their well-rehearsed routines and lively formations that demonstrated discipline, teamwork, and creativity.

The energetic music and coordinated steps brought life to the venue as the learners performed with enthusiasm and determination. Parents and teachers watched with admiration and pride as the children gave their best in the friendly competition. The contest not only highlighted the learners’ talents and hard work but also created a joyful and memorable moment for families who were happy to see their children perform confidently.

During the Family Fun Day, the Parents’ Singing Contest brought a delightful highlight to the celebration. Each grade level was represented by a talented parent, who confidently showcased their vocal skills, stage presence, and enthusiasm. Their heartfelt and lively performances captivated the audience, drawing cheers and applause from fellow parents, teachers, and guests alike. The contest not only entertained everyone but also strengthened the sense of community, making the day more memorable and full of joy.

Another much-awaited part of the event was the raffle draw with exciting prizes, which brought great anticipation and excitement among the attendees. Lucky winners went home with wonderful prizes, adding more joy to the celebration.

The event was made even more enjoyable with delicious treats and refreshments shared by supportive community partners. Everyone enjoyed the “Palugaw ni Mayor na Lami,” which warmed both hearts and stomachs. Participants were also delighted by the Ice Cream Service on the Go sponsored by Vice Mayor Atty. Charlotte Gallego, as well as the refreshing apples and ice cream in cups, which were especially loved by the children sponsored by Hon. Alexis C. Almendras. The massive support from the SPTA officers headed by Pres. Joie Cahiles and his Vice Pres. Janeth Pradel were unwavering.

Overall, the Family Fun Day 2026 was a memorable celebration that strengthened the bond between families and the school community. The event successfully highlighted the vital role of parents and guardians in supporting their children's education. Through fun activities, shared meals, and joyful interactions, the celebration truly embodied the theme that family and education are guiding forces toward a successful future.

The day ended with grateful hearts, happy smiles, and renewed commitment from everyone to continue working together for the growth and success of every learner. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🎉

To promote a fair, transparent, and merit-based recruitment process, the Schools Division Office of Davao del Sur (SDO Davao del Sur), through the Human Resource Merit Promotion and Selection Board (HRMPSB), conducted a reorientation on DepEd Order No. 7, s. 2023 and DepEd Order No. 21, s. 2024 relative to the Recruitment and Hiring of Teacher I (T1) Applicants for School Year 2026–2027 at the Division Training Center (DTC).

The activity aimed to ensure that all teacher-applicants, school heads, and concerned stakeholders have a clear and common understanding of the updated policies, procedures, and standards governing the hiring process, anchored on the principles of fairness, transparency, and merit. The reorientation also served as a platform to clarify guidelines, address concerns, and strengthen compliance with established recruitment protocols.

The reorientation was spearheaded by the HRMPSB headed by Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Marilyn Lynne Deduyo, who emphasized the Board’s role in upholding integrity and objectivity in the evaluation and selection of qualified teacher-applicants. She highlighted the importance of adherence to policy provisions to ensure a credible and equitable hiring process across the division.

Schools Division Superintendent Lorenzo E. Mendoza, CESO V, graced the activity and delivered a message stressing the value of accountability and professionalism in the recruitment of teachers. He underscored that a transparent hiring system is vital in building a competent teaching workforce capable of delivering quality basic education and responding to the needs of learners and communities.

Through this initiative, SDO Davao del Sur reaffirms its commitment to strengthening human resource systems and ensuring that only qualified, competent, and deserving teachers are selected to serve in public schools, in line with the Department of Education’s mandate of providing inclusive and quality education for all.
