The creation of Barobo Municipal High School now (Barobo National High School) was conceived in the year 1975 with the good intention of the late ABC President Eutiquio P. Jose Pantaleon Sr-school Head of Barobo Elementary School and councilor Rolando M. Ronquillo in the preparation of all the required reports relative to the establishment of a new high school until its operation. The said application for opening a high school was favorably endorsed by the late Mayor Merritt P. Goode on 1976 through a Resolution passed and adopted by the council to the Schools Division Superintendent of the Division of Surigao del Sur during the incumbency of the late Antonio A. Orozco who strongly recommended for the approval of the opening of the Barobo Municipal High School to the Regional Director Pedro O. San Vicente of the DECS, Region XI, Davao City. The first two year level curriculum was approved by virtue of the DECS Permit Nos.04 s. 1978 and Nos.11-R,s.1979 and No.12,s.1979 for the third year and fourth year levels with two (2) part time teachers and five (5) full time teachers under the supervision of the Asst Principal ,Mr. Ronquillo concurrent Principal- of Barobo Central elementary School from June 1978 to July 1982 prior to the promotion of the Asst. Principal as Vocational School Principal of Tagbina-Barobo National Agricultural High School, Tagbina, Surigao del Sur, thereby designating an OIC to manage the school. Teachers salaries and allowances were charged as 30%-70% basis where 30% from the Municipal Government and 70% from the national funds. The nationalization of Barobo Municipal High School renamed the school into Barobo National High School in the year 1986 managed by a Teacher-in-charge until 1994 with 100% national funding allocation for the teacher's salaries and allowances and other benefits, likewise, for maintenance and other operating expenses. In the year 1995, the school was under the supervision of a Principal- 1 and now as Principal-IV/ Designated Cluster Head comprising ten (10) secondary schools of Lianga-Barobo with strong manpower and recognized as one of the outstanding secondary schools of the division of Surigao del Sur, CARAGA Region Butuan City, likewise, one of the 282 DepEd recognized Tech-Voc Schools throughout the country as Agro-Trade School. Barobo National High School conducted its SPTA Assembly and Distribution of Cards on September 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. The activity brought together parents, teachers, school officials, and stakeholders to discuss important school updates, programs, and concerns while strengthening collaboration between the school and the community.

The program formally opened with the singing of a nationalistic song through an audio-visual presentation, followed by an invocation led by Mr. Lolito E. Cagatin, Jr., Teacher I. Mr. Mark Nel G. Guerrero, Master Teacher I, then delivered the welcome greetings. An energetic opening salvo was presented by the Special Program in the Arts (SPA) โ€“ Dance Arts, under the guidance of Ms. Jessah Cris Eve U. Valle, Teacher II.

The presentation of DepEd and school updates followed, led by the School Principal, Dr. Rachel Methuselah R. Cumahig, who provided the parents and stakeholders with relevant information on the current status, accomplishments, programs, and ongoing initiatives of Barobo National High School.

This was followed by Mr. Ritchie L. Ruta, Teacher III and Junior High School Department Head, who discussed important updates concerning learner formation and discipline. He emphasized that the former Prefect of Discipline Office is now referred to as the Learner Formation Office, highlighting its broader role in promoting positive learner behavior, leadership, responsibility, and holistic development. He also discussed his role as the school's Learner Formation Officer (LFO).

Health-related concerns and programs were subsequently discussed by Ms. Vanessa M. Naman, RN, School Nurse, together with Ms. Eunice D. Campos, RN, Municipal Program Coordinator for the School-Based Immunization Program. They provided relevant information and guidance regarding the implementation of school-based health and immunization initiatives.

Meanwhile, Ms. Maricel G. Baja, Master Teacher II and Senior High School Department Head, provided clarifications and updates concerning DepEd Order No. 15, s. 2026, as well as the latest developments regarding the school's TechPro offerings. Her discussion helped parents better understand the current Senior High School program implementation and the opportunities available to learners.

Another intermission number was rendered by the SPA Dance Arts, once again under the supervision of Ms. Jessah Cris Eve U. Valle, adding energy and entertainment to the gathering.

The SPTA Assembly Proper then commenced with the determination of quorum facilitated by the SPTA Chairperson, Mr. Danilo V. Lumapas. This was followed by the presentation of the SPTA Financial Report by the newly designated SPTA Treasurer, Mrs. Rosalie Pontiveros, promoting transparency and accountability in the management of the association's resources.

As a simple gesture of appreciation, the school also awarded โ€œPahalipayโ€ to the first 15 parents who arrived at the venue, recognizing their punctuality and active participation in the activity. The assembly concluded with a closing prayer led by Mrs. Dina Husain, SPTA Representative.

Immediately after the SPTA Assembly, parents proceeded to their respective classrooms for the HRPTA Meetings and Distribution of Report Cards, providing them with an opportunity to confer with class advisers regarding their children's academic performance, progress, and other learner-related concerns.

The entire program was successfully facilitated by the Grade 9 Level, under the leadership of Ms. Cheryl O. Ranque, with Ms. Sheena De Gracia serving as the Master of Ceremonies. Overall, the activity provided a meaningful avenue for open communication, transparency, and shared responsibility among the school, parents, and stakeholders toward the continuous improvement of learner outcomes and the overall development of the BNHS community.
