𝐃𝐒𝐖𝐃 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐗 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨

In line with its mandate to promote innovative social welfare programs and strengthen local social protection mechanisms, the DSWD FO X, through the Social Technology Unit (STU), conducted a series of orientations on completed social technologies in various municipalities across Northern Mindanao.

The activity, titled “Orientation on Completed Social Technologies,” aimed to advocate for the replication and adoption of proven and effective social technologies that address the needs of vulnerable sectors in the community. These completed social technologies were developed by the DSWD Social Technology Bureau (STB) and have undergone pilot testing, validation, and evaluation for wider implementation.

The orientations were successfully conducted in the following areas:
📍Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental – September 2, 2025
📍Opol, Misamis Oriental – October 7, 2025
📍Manticano, Misamis Oriental – October 8, 2025
📍Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte – October 10, 2025
📍Tudela, Misamis Occidental – October 14, 2025

Local government representatives, social welfare officers, and partner stakeholders participated in the orientation to gain a deeper understanding of the programs and explore how these can be adopted and localized to respond to their respective communities’ social welfare concerns.

The following completed social technologies were featured and promoted during the sessions:
1. Special Drug Education Center (SDEC)
2. Reporting and Prevention System Project for Elderly Abuse Cases (ResPPEC)
3. Community Action and Resources for Accessible and Better Living Environment (Care-ABLE)
4. Home Care Support Services for Senior Citizens (HCSSSC)
5. ProtecTEEN: Psychosocial Support and Other Interventions for Adolescent Mothers and Their Families
6. Counseling Service for Rehabilitation of Perpetrators of Domestic Violence (CSRPDV)

Through these orientations, DSWD FO X underscores the importance of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and innovation in addressing emerging social welfare challenges. By capacitating local government units and partners on the replication of completed social technologies, the Department ensures that more communities benefit from sustainable, evidence-based, and transformative social services.

The initiative forms part of DSWD’s continuing efforts to strengthen local social welfare systems and uphold its commitment to delivering “Serbisyong Tapat at May Malasakit” to every Filipino family.

𝐀 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞

Jeanelyn V. Damayo is a proud PWD parent-beneficiary from Maigo, Lanao del Norte, who showed that no challenge can hinder a parent’s love and determination. Together with her child, who is also a learner of the Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program, Jeanelyn is among the parents of the program who successfully completed the 20-day session without letting her disability become a barrier.

For Jeanelyn, the program was more than just about tutoring, it was an opportunity to bond with her child, journey together in learning, and strengthen their family’s hope for a brighter future. She expressed heartfelt gratitude, sharing that being part of Tara, Basa! has truly helped them as a family.

Her story is a powerful reminder that when families and communities work together, education becomes more inclusive, more meaningful, and more life-changing.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆: 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

In its commitment to building an inclusive society, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office X, through the Social Technology Unit, promotes the Sheltered Workshop for Older Persons (OP) and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). This program adopts a practical approach to supporting individuals in these sectors by providing training and workshops that enhance their employability and foster positive habits for income generation.

The Sheltered Workshop is a community-based facility designed to offer work training and productive employment opportunities for PWDs and OPs. Participants produce and sell goods or services for income. The program is managed either independently or in collaboration with the DSWD Field Office, Local Government Units (LGUs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), other government agencies, people’s organizations, or self-help groups.

The LGU of Maigo, Lanao del Norte, has embraced this opportunity and committed to incorporating the program’s components into their local framework. This proactive initiative by the LGU reflects a strong commitment to fostering inclusivity and providing vital support to vulnerable populations. By enhancing skills, employability, and social engagement, the program empowers these individuals. The orientation also addresses the legal frameworks that protect Older Persons and Persons with Disabilities, in accordance with the Magna Carta for Persons with Disabilities and the Expanded Senior Citizens Act.
