Upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), and in anticipation of continued heavy rainfall associated with the enhanced Southwest Monsoon, government offices in the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Apayao, Batanes, Nueva Vizcaya, Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Bataan are directed to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements on 01 September 2026.

Agencies delivering essential and vital services shall continue their operations. Alternative learning modes and learning continuity measures shall be implemented in public and private schools in the aforementioned areas.

The suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector shall be left to the discretion of management.

Upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), and in anticipation of the further enhancement of the Southwest Monsoon due to the Low-Pressure Area (LPA) that entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility, work in government offices and classes at all levels in public and private schools in the National Capital Region and the provinces of Abra, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Batangas, Cavite, Rizal, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro are hereby suspended on 28 August 2026, at 1:00 PM.

Agencies delivering basic and health services, disaster preparedness/response, and other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services. Localized cancellation or suspension of classes and/or work in government offices in other areas may be implemented by their respective Local Chief Executives.

The suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector shall be left to the discretion of management.

Bilang pagtugon sa mga panganib na dulot ng iba’t ibang kalamidad, inilunsad ng DepEd ang LIGTAS+ o Learning Institution Geohazard Tracking and Assessment for Safety, isang makabagong platform para sa mas maagap, mabilis, at data-driven na paghahanda at pagtugon ng mga paaralan.

Katuwang ang Education Center for AI Research (ECAIR), binuo ng DepEd ang LIGTAS+ upang tulungan ang ating mga paaralan na matukoy nang tama at mas maaga ang mga panganib, makapaghanda, at makatugon nang mabilis at mahusay kapag may hazard.

BUILDING TEACHERS' EXPERTISE (BTE): HANDS-ON DIVISION TRAINING WORKSHOP ON SCIENCE CONTENT AND CLASSROOM PRACTICES

The Schools Division Office of Urdaneta City through the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) in coordination with the Schools Governance Operation Division (SGOD)-Human Resource Development section will conduct BUILDING TEACHERS' EXPERTISE: HANDS-ON DIVISION TRAINING WORKSHOP ON SCIENCE CONTENT AND CLASSROOM PRACTICES on August 21, 22, and 29, 2026 for Batch 1 for Elementary and September 5,12, and 19 for Batch 2 for Secondary at Gr8 Corporate Center, 5th floor Antoninos Restobar, Anonas Urdaneta City.

This training workshop is designed to address the findings of basic research conducted by the program owner. Its objectives are to: (1) directly address identified content and pedagogical gaps; (2) target the least-mastered learning competencies; (3) improve science teachers’ knowledge and proficiency with laboratory equipment, tools, and apparatuses. Overall, the workshop aims to strengthen science education by equipping teachers with updated skills and strategies through hands-on activities.

Participants in this training workshop will include the forty-five (45) designated elementary and fifty (50) secondary science coordinators/ science teachers from junior and senior high schools, as well as members of the Program Management Team/ Technical Working Group and Learning Facilitators.

The subject matter experts will consist of faculty members from Pangasinan State University- Bayambang Campus, the Education Program Supervisor in Science, and selected school heads from SDO Urdaneta City.

The training workshop is NEAP-Accredited with NEAP QA Certification No. R1-PD-2026-0023-0608 and PRC-Accredited with Accreditation Nos. PTR-2024-640-13781 and PTR-2024- 640-13786 for a total of 10 CPD Units.

URDANETA CITY — The Schools Division Office (SDO) of Urdaneta City completed the ranking of applicants for newly allocated School Counsellor Associate positions on August 19, 2026. Conducted through the Agile Gateway for Appointments and Placements (AGAP) Portal, this timely process highlights the division's commitment to streamlining personnel selection and delivering crucial support staff to schools without operational delay, as reiterated by Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Aguedo C. Fernandez.

Out of 76 applicants who initially submitted their credentials through the AGAP Portal, 57 met the official qualification standards.
The systematic evaluation was conducted by the Human Resource Merit Promotion and Selection Board (HRMPSB), composed of Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Ma. Criselda G. Ocang, SGOD Chief Dr. Mario E. Campilla, NEU President and Medical Officer Dr. Sheila Ann P. Perez, and HRMO Mary Ann Joy S. Tablada, who managed the portal access control throughout the procedure to safeguard data integrity and maintain transparency across the selection process.

Guidance Counselors Andrea Vera M. Ner and Jhoanna Grace M. Opeña prepared the written test. Joseph Victor V. Cuison and Rosemarie S. Montero served as the secretariat, while Crisela Marie E. De Guzman acted as the documenter.
