The Municipality of Valencia, Bohol kicked off the assessment for the Gawad Kalambuan sa Barangay Awards on September 18, 2026, with Barangays Anonang and Genoveva serving as the first barangays assessed under the program.
The assessment team, composed of representatives from the Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO), Municipal Accounting Office, Municipal Health Office (MHO), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Ecological Solid Waste Management focal person, conducted the assessment to determine the barangaysโ compliance with relevant laws, policies, and government issuances.
The programโs assessment indicators are aligned with the DILGโs Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB), providing a framework for recognizing barangays that demonstrate good governance and effective delivery of services.
Top-performing barangays will be granted incentives in recognition of their accomplishments and compliance. Beyond recognition, the assessment will also serve as a basis for identifying areas that require improvement and possible interventions from concerned municipal offices and agencies to provide technical assistance and capacitate barangays.
Through the Gawad Kalambuan sa Barangay Awards, the Municipality of Valencia continues to promote good governance, accountability, and improved service delivery at the barangay level, recognizing achievements while identifying opportunities to further strengthen the capacities and performance of its barangays.
