It Takes a Village to Raise a Child ❤️

We often hear the saying, "It takes a village to raise a child."

A child needs more than just parents. They need caring grandparents, supportive teachers, trusted friends, loving neighbors, mentors, coaches, and people who show up when life gets hard.

No one is meant to do this alone.

A strong village helps children feel safe, valued, and loved. It gives them different people to learn from, different shoulders to lean on, and different voices reminding them that they matter.

And sometimes, the village isn't the one you're born into. It's the one you build with people who genuinely care.

Children thrive when they are surrounded by love, guidance, and community.

❤️ Every child deserves a village. ❤️ Every parent deserves support. ❤️ We were never meant to do this alone.

Character Matters More Than Grades

Good grades can open doors, but good character determines what happens once you're inside.

As parents, it's easy to focus on report cards, test scores, and academic achievements. But while grades measure what a child knows, character reflects who they are.

Teach your child to be honest when no one is watching. Teach them to be kind to people who can do nothing for them. Teach them to take responsibility for their mistakes and to treat others with respect.

A child who learns integrity, compassion, perseverance, and humility is gaining lessons that will serve them for life.

Celebrate the A's, but don't forget to celebrate the moments when your child chooses kindness, tells the truth, helps someone in need, or does the right thing even when it's difficult.

Because at the end of the day, the world needs more good people—not just smart people.

❤️ Character may not appear on a report card, but it will shape your child's future.

Speak Life Into Your Child ❤️

The words we speak to our children become the voice they carry inside themselves.

A child who constantly hears criticism may grow up doubting their worth.

A child who hears encouragement learns to believe in their abilities.

Your words have power.

Instead of saying: ❌ "You never do anything right."

Try: ✅ "Mistakes help us learn. I know you can do better next time."

Instead of saying: ❌ "Why can't you be more like your brother/sister?"

Try: ✅ "You are uniquely you, and that is something to be proud of."

Instead of saying: ❌ "You're so difficult."

Try: ✅ "I know you're having a hard time. Let's work through it together."

Children need correction, but they also need encouragement.

They need to hear:

❤️ "I believe in you." ❤️ "I'm proud of your effort." ❤️ "You are loved." ❤️ "You matter." ❤️ "You can learn from this." ❤️ "I enjoy being your parent."

Years from now, your child may not remember every lesson you taught them, but they will remember how your words made them feel.

Speak life. Speak hope. Speak confidence. Speak love.

Those words can stay with them for a lifetime.

The Valenzuela City Child Protection Center successfully conducted its Basic Life Support (BLS) Training with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Use on June 03, 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall, 3S Maysan-Malabo.

Facilitated by Kelvin Jhon C. De Guzman and Paul Michael J. Anastacio of the Valenzuela City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (VCDRRMO), the training provided CPC staff with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in recognizing emergencies, performing CPR, using the AED, and coordinating immediate response while waiting for rescue support.

This activity served as an important reminder that knowing how to respond during critical situations can help save lives. It also forms part of VCCPC’s continuing commitment to staff capacity building, emergency preparedness, and the safety of the children, families, visitors, and fellow staff we serve.

Thank you to the CPC staff who attended and supported this learning activity, and to our resource speakers/trainers for generously sharing their knowledge and practical experience. 💙

Last May 23, 2026, the Valenzuela City Child Protection Center successfully conducted another session of its Psychoeducation Series focused on Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health.

Through a youth-friendly and interactive discussion, adolescents learned about the male and female reproductive system, proper body terms, personal boundaries, body safety, and self-care. The session also included awareness on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV, highlighting preventionand informed decision-making.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Nurse Ruru and the VCCPC team -- Intervention Social Worker Ma'am Julie and Doc Sandy -- for making the activity engaging and meaningful.
