The Provincial Veterinary Office successfully conducted a series of activities in all municipalities of Catanduanes last May 11-14, 2026 focused on strengthening animal health, disease prevention, and public safety.

Led by Dr. Rona Bernales, Regional Rabies Coordinator of DARFO-V, together with Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Ramil I. Evangelista, the activity highlighted the importance of Monitoring of African Swine Fever (ASF) and Biosecurity Compliance among Local Government Units (LGUs) as part of the Swine Disease Detection and Management Training.

The team also carried out the Revalidation of Rabies-Free Status Maintenance of LGUs, including the conduct of spray and neuter activities to further promote responsible pet ownership and rabies prevention in the province.

As part of the program, spay kits were officially turned over to participating LGUs, along with demonstrations on proper castration procedures, assessment of dog pounds, and inspection of locally registered meat establishments to ensure compliance with animal health and food safety standards.

These activities reflect the continued commitment of the Provincial Veterinary Office, DARFO-V, and all partner LGUs in safeguarding animal welfare, protecting public health, and strengthening the livestock industry of Catanduanes.
