PNP ROLLS OUT LIGTAS SUMVAC 2026 TO ENSURE SAFE SUMMER TRAVEL
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched Ligtas SUMVAC 2026, a nationwide security operation to ensure public safety during the summer vacation from March 29 to May 31, 2026.
The operation covers major holidays and events including Philippine Veterans Week, Araw ng Kagitingan, Holy Week, Labor Day, and Flores de Mayo, when large numbers of travelers are expected to visit provinces, tourist destinations, and places of worship.
In the coming days, the PNP will begin the deployment roll-out of personnel and resources nationwide to ensure full readiness for SUMVAC 2026. Strategic positioning will cover highways, transport hubs, tourist destinations, and other key areas to guarantee public safety and swift police response.
The Highway Patrol Group will position road safety marshals along major thoroughfares and inspect bus terminals, while Police Regional Offices will intensify mobile patrols and maintain maximum visibility in transport terminals and other key public areas.
Motorist Assistance Centers will be established along major highways, with Police Assistance Desks in churches, airports, seaports, bus terminals, and other strategic locations.
Meanwhile, the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group will intensify cyber patrolling to monitor and prevent online scams, particularly fraudulent travel and accommodation offers targeting vacationers.
Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. assured the public that the police force is fully prepared to keep communities safe during the holiday season.
“Sa panahon ng bakasyon at Semana Santa, inaasahan natin ang pagdagsa ng mga biyahero at mga pamilyang magtutungo sa mga simbahan at pasyalan. Nais naming tiyakin sa publiko na nakaalerto ang inyong kapulisan upang mapanatiling ligtas at maayos ang kanilang paglalakbay,” PGEN Nartatez said.
“Simple lang naman ang hangarin natin—na maramdaman ng bawat Pilipino na ligtas sila saan man sila magpunta. Police presence will be stronger in transport hubs, highways, and tourist spots to ensure families can travel with confidence,” he added.
The PNP also reminded the public to remain vigilant, secure their belongings, and immediately report suspicious activities to the nearest police officer or station.
The Ligtas SUMVAC 2026 initiative reflects the continuing commitment of the PNP to protect communities and ensure that every Filipino can enjoy the holiday season safely—true to its mission of building a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.
