PNP STATEMENT ON THE RECOVERY OF ABANDONED CASKETS IN METRO MANILA

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is aware of the circulating videos and social media posts regarding abandoned caskets reportedly found in different parts of Metro Manila.

The concerned police units are validating each reported incident and are coordinating with the respective local government units and other appropriate agencies to determine the circumstances surrounding the recovery of the caskets. The recovered caskets, together with other materials found at the scene, have been secured as part of the investigation to establish their origin, purpose, and whether any laws or local ordinances may have been violated.

The PNP encourages the public to rely only on verified information from official sources and to refrain from sharing unverified claims or speculation that may cause unnecessary confusion. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is encouraged to report it to the nearest police station, through official PNP communication channels, or by calling Unified 911.

The PNP assures the public that the matter is being looked into by the concerned police units in coordination with the appropriate authorities. Updates will be provided, as necessary, based on verified information and the progress of the investigation.

INTEGRITY IN ACTION: PNP FILES FI****MS CHARGES AGAINST TWO ACTIVE PERSONNEL

Demonstrating that accountability begins within its own organization, the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested two active police personnel during an operation in Caloocan City for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Fi****ms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The operation was conducted early Thursday following intelligence and case build-up, leading to the arrest of the two suspects, aged 32 and 39, after they allegedly sold fi****ms to an undercover police operative.

Recovered during the operation were several fi****ms, ammunition, marked money used in the operation, mobile phones, and motorcycles believed to have been used in the transaction. The suspects were informed of the reason for their arrest and apprised of their constitutional rights, while all recovered evidence underwent proper inventory and documentation before charges under Sections 28 and 29 of Republic Act No. 10591 were referred for inquest proceedings.

The operation underscores the PNP's unwavering commitment to professional accountability by ensuring that every allegation involving its personnel is addressed through lawful and impartial processes. It also supports the Integrity Monitoring pillar of the PNP Focused Agenda by reinforcing discipline, transparency, and ethical conduct within the organization, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. PNP STANDS READY TO ASSIST COMMUNITIES AFFECTED BY TROPICAL STORM "MAYMAY"

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reminded the public to remain alert and take necessary precautions as Tropical Storm "Maymay" (international name: Kujira) continues to bring heavy rains and strong winds over several parts of the country. Police units nationwide continue to coordinate with local authorities and partner agencies to provide assistance and help ensure public safety in affected communities.

Police units nationwide have been directed to closely coordinate with local government units, disaster response agencies, and other concerned offices to ensure prompt assistance, maintain public order, and support emergency operations in communities that may be affected by flooding, landslides, and other weather-related incidents.

These preparedness measures reflect the PNP's continuing efforts to strengthen police operational readiness under its Focused Agenda while supporting the whole-of-government disaster response initiatives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

UNDOCUMENTED .45 DOOMS ARMY PFC AFTER TAGUIG GUNFIRE

The Philippine National Police, under the leadership of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested a 26-year-old Private First Class of the Philippine Army and confiscated an undocumented caliber .45 pistol in Taguig City on August 3, 2026, in connection with an alleged indiscriminate firing incident.

Police responded to the incident along Mastrili Street, Dulong Bayan, Barangay Bambang, where investigators recovered one fired cartridge case. Through witness accounts and CCTV forward tracking, authorities identified and located the suspect, who was subsequently arrested. Recovered from his possession were an M1911A1 caliber .45 pistol and five live rounds of ammunition. The suspect failed to present any License to Own and Possess Fi****ms, firearm registration, or any document authorizing his possession of the firearm.

The confiscated firearm will undergo ballistic and cross-matching examination as investigators verify whether the suspect holds a valid License to Own and Possess Fi****ms, firearm registration, or a Permit to Carry Fi****ms Outside Residence. Charges for Alarms and Scandal under Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code, Illegal Discharge of Firearm under Article 254 of the Revised Penal Code, and violations of Republic Act No. 10591 are being prepared for inquest proceedings before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office.

“The PNP remains firm in enforcing fi****ms laws and ensuring that those who unlawfully possess or misuse fi****ms are held accountable. Every illegal firearm taken off the streets is a step toward safer communities and stronger public trust,” PGEN Nartatez said.

REGION 2’s NO. 3, NO. 7 MOST WANTED FOR R**E CASES COLLARED

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the command of PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested the No. 3 and No. 7 Most Wanted Persons in Region 2 in separate operations conducted in Isabela on August 5, 2026, for Qualified R**e and two counts of Statutory R**e, respectively.

The No. 3 Regional Most Wanted Person, a 30-year-old Filipino male, was arrested in Barangay Minanga, Naguilian, Isabela by operatives of the CIDG Isabela Provincial Field Unit and the Naguilian Municipal Police Station. He was apprehended by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, Second Judicial Region, Branch 18, City of Ilagan, Isabela, for Qualified R**e, with no bail recommended. The case arose from the complaint of a 16-year-old minor, who alleged that she had been repeatedly sexually abused by her stepfather from June 2025 to March 2026 and threatened to prevent her from disclosing the abuse. The incidents came to light after school officials noticed the victim’s condition and coordinated with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and the Women and Children Protection Desk.

Meanwhile, the No. 7 Most Wanted Person in Region 2, a 56-year-old Filipino male, was arrested in Barangay Tallag, Cabagan, Isabela by personnel of the Alicia Municipal Police Station with the assistance of other PNP units. He was served a Warrant of Arrest for two counts of Statutory R**e, likewise carrying no bail recommended. The investigation stemmed from a complaint filed by a 15-year-old victim, who disclosed that she had allegedly been sexually assaulted on two occasions in 2022 and threatened with harm if she reported the incidents to authorities.

“These arrests send a clear message that no wanted person can evade the law indefinitely. The PNP will relentlessly pursue offenders and ensure they are brought before the courts to answer for their crimes,” PGEN Nartatez said.

The successful operations underscore the PNP’s unwavering drive to protect women and children and hold offenders accountable. PNP ARRESTS 21 WANTED PERSONS NATIONWIDE, INCLUDING TOP-RANKED INDIVIDUALS IN MOST WANTED LISTS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to intensify its nationwide manhunt operations after arresting 21 wanted persons, including several individuals listed among the Top Most Wanted Persons in their respective areas, during a series of operations conducted on August 3 and 4, 2026.

Among those apprehended were individuals ranked as No. 1 Most Wanted Persons in Police Regional Offices 5 and 4B, along with other high-ranking wanted personalities from different regions. The arrested persons were facing various criminal charges, including murder, r**e, statutory r**e, qualified theft, carnapping, kidnapping, and violations of Republic Act No. 9165, among others.

In Masbate, authorities arrested a No. 1 Most Wanted Person of Police Regional Office 5 who was facing multiple charges, including murder and attempted murder. Meanwhile, a No. 1 Most Wanted Person of PRO 4B was also arrested in Romblon for multiple counts of qualified r**e of a minor.

Other notable arrests included a No. 7 Most Wanted Person in Samar for murder, a No. 4 Most Wanted Person in Occidental Mindoro for r**e, and a No. 8 Most Wanted Person in Iloilo for r**e by carnal knowledge. Several other wanted persons listed at the regional and provincial levels were likewise taken into custody in coordinated operations across the country.

The operations were carried out by different police units through intelligence-driven efforts and close coordination among local police offices, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group units, Regional Intelligence Units, Police Mobile Forces, and other partner law enforcement units.

These accomplishments reflect the PNP’s continued commitment to strengthening its crime prevention and law enforcement efforts under the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly the Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), which promotes proactive, intelligence-based, and coordinated police actions to keep communities safe.

PNP SEIZES ₱3.8-M WORTH OF SMUGGLED CI******ES IN DAVAO ORIENTAL

Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to strengthen its campaign against smuggling after authorities confiscated an estimated ₱3.835 million worth of smuggled ci******es during an operation in Barangay Manikling, San Isidro, Davao Oriental on August 3, 2026.

The operation, carried out through the coordinated efforts of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the San Isidro Municipal Police Station, and the Regional Intelligence Unit 11, led to the arrest of two Filipino suspects, aged 41 and 18. Authorities recovered 59 master cases of smuggled ci******es, which were turned over for proper documentation and disposition while the arrested individuals remain under police custody for the filing of appropriate charges.

The successful operation forms part of the PNP's intensified law enforcement efforts under its Focused Agenda, particularly through Enhanced Managing Police Operations, aimed at disrupting illegal activities that undermine legitimate trade and deprive the government of lawful revenues.
