PESHAWAR: Polling for a National Assembly vacant seat from Kurram tribal district will be held today (Sunday) with all 143 polling stations already declared sensitive by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The ECP handed over election material to the presiding officers in Kurram district and transported it to the respective polling stations in the NA-45 constituency on Saturday amid strict security measures.

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan is among a total of 16 candidates for the by-election.

Mr Imran will face a candidate jointly fielded by the Pakistan Democratic Movement member parties, a Jamaat-i-Islami Pakistan nominee and 13 independents, including the covering candidate for the PTI chief.

برطانیہ کی 200 سال پرانی جمہوریت میں پہلی دفعہ ایک ایشیائی (انڈین نژاد) رشی سوناک برطانیہ کا وزیرِاعظم بننے جا رہا ہے۔ میں آج سوچ رہا تھا کہ یہ کیسے ممکن ہوا؟ جواب ملا کہ وہاں پر مذہبی وابستگیوں ،ذات برادری، رنگ و نسل اور فرقہ بندیوں سے بالاتر ہو کر صرف اور صرف میرٹ کو ترجیح دیجاتی ہے۔ یہی وجہ ہے کہ کبھی تو ایک پاکستانی نژاد ٹرک ڈرائیور کا بیٹا محمد صادق خان لندن کا لارڈ مئیر بن جاتا ہے اور ابھی انڈین نژاد رشی سوناک اس عظیم جمہوری ملک برطانیہ کا وزیرِاعظم بننے جا رہا ہے۔ میری یہ دعُا ہے کہ خدا کرے کہ ہمارے پیارے وطن پاکستان میں بھی وہ وقت آۓ جہاں عدل و انصاف کا بول بالا ہو اور ہم اقرباپروری کو ترک کرتے ہوۓ صرف اور صرف میرٹ اور قابلیت کو ترجیح دیں۔ تب ہی ہم حقیقی معنوں میں ایک عظیم قوم کہلائیں گے۔

کوئی قابل ہو تو ہم شانِ کئی دیتے ہیں
ڈھونڈنے والوں کو دنیا بھی نئی دیتے ہیں
