Objectives and Goals
The specific objectives of OnFarm Water Management Dir Upper is to increase productivity through better techniques of irrigation, enhancing cultivated area by reducing dikes and slopes, reducing production cost by enhancing efficiency and alleviating poverty in rural areas through better farm returns and employment generation.The seasonal streams and springs in most of the part of the district having very low discharge especially in peak water requirements period i.e. June, July and August does not fulfill the crop water requirements resulting in valuable loss to crop production. This why there is a great demand for the water storage facilities in these areas of the district.
Water Storage Tanks are necessary when small flows from the source are accumulated so that outflow will be large enough for effective irrigation and to minimize excessive conveyance losses
