Gilgit, July 22, 2026: The Honorable Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Amjad Hussain, inaugurated the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan's Data Center at Gilgit-Baltistan House, Islamabad. The inauguration marks the first major project formally launched under his leadership since assuming the office of Chief Minister. The Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Mr. Arshad Majeed Khan was also present on the occasion.
The establishment of the Data Center is a significant milestone in the Government's vision for digital transformation and improved public service delivery. Designed as a centralized Digital Hub, the facility will host critical government applications and digital platforms, providing secure, reliable, and efficient IT infrastructure for government departments across Gilgit-Baltistan.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of the Finance Department and all stakeholders involved in the establishment of the Data Center and emphasized the Government's commitment to leveraging technology for enhancing transparency, efficiency, and citizen-centric service delivery. He noted that the project reflects the Government's resolve to modernize governance and expand access to digital services throughout Gilgit-Baltistan.
Secretary Finance Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Najeeb Alam, briefed the Honorable Chief Minister on the objectives, capabilities, and strategic importance of the Data Center. He highlighted that the facility will serve as the backbone for several ongoing and upcoming digital initiatives of the Government, including integrated digital payment solutions, online billing systems, and other e-governance interventions aimed at improving public sector performance.
During the briefing, the Secretary Finance also shared the Government's roadmap for future digital interventions and informed the participants that additional digital platforms and citizen services are planned to be launched in the coming months.
The Government of Gilgit-Baltistan remains committed to harnessing technology to build a more transparent, efficient, and responsive public administration. The inauguration of the Data Center marks the beginning of a new era of digital governance and reinforces the Government's vision of delivering seamless public services to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan under the vision of “Good Governance Through Digital Transformation”.
