🦟 اسلام آباد میں انسدادِ ڈینگی سرگرمیاں جاری

ڈائریکٹوریٹ آف ہیلتھ سروسز، CDA-MCI اسلام آباد کی سرویلنس ٹیمیں ڈائریکٹر جنرل ہیلتھ کی ہدایت پر اینٹومولوجسٹ کی تکنیکی نگرانی میں شہر بھر میں انسدادِ ڈینگی سرگرمیاں بھرپور انداز میں جاری رکھے ہوئے ہیں۔

فیلڈ ٹیمیں مختلف علاقوں میں مسلسل انٹومولوجیکل سرویلنس، ممکنہ لاروا کی نشاندہی اور تلفی، پانی کے ذخائر اور ممکنہ افزائشِ مچھر کے مقامات کا معائنہ، لاروا سورس مینجمنٹ اور انسدادِ ڈینگی SOPs پر مؤثر عملدرآمد کو یقینی بنا رہی ہیں، تاکہ ڈینگی کے ممکنہ خطرات کی بروقت نشاندہی کرکے فوری تدارک کیا جا سکے۔

موجودہ مون سون سیزن کے دوران بارش کے باعث مختلف مقامات پر پانی جمع ہونے سے Aedes مچھر کی افزائش کے امکانات بڑھ سکتے ہیں، اس لیے مسلسل نگرانی اور بروقت کارروائی انتہائی ضروری ہے۔

ڈینگی سے بچاؤ—احتیاط آپ کی ذمہ داری بھی ہے

✅ گھروں اور اردگرد کے ماحول کو صاف اور خشک رکھیں۔
✅ کسی بھی جگہ پانی جمع نہ ہونے دیں۔
✅ پانی کے برتن اور ٹینکیوں کو اچھی طرح ڈھانپ کر رکھیں۔
✅ گملوں، ٹائروں، کولرز اور دیگر اشیاء میں جمع پانی فوری طور پر ختم کریں۔
✅ فیلڈ ٹیموں کے ساتھ تعاون کریں اور ممکنہ breeding sites کی بروقت اطلاع دیں۔

As per Direction of Worthy Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and DG Health CDA MCI A refresher anti 🦟 training session was held in the Chief Commissioner Office Islamabad aimed at strengthening the capacity of field teams for effective dengue surveillance, larvae reporting and preparedness.

The session was chaired by District Entomologist Islamabad, Malik Muhammad Qasim Sujra, and facilitated by Mr. Abdul Qadir Entomologist Islamabad Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination The training was conducted for the Local Government and AUQAF ORGANIZATION Staff of Islamabad, for doing effective surveillance.

The session covered practical aspects of the PITB Anti Dengue application, including:

🔹 Login and access-related issues
🔹 Resolution of technical queries faced by field teams
🔹 Accurate recording and reporting of dengue surveillance activities
🔹 Timely submission of field data
🔹 Effective utilization of digital surveillance for monitoring and decision-making

The District Entomologist briefed on dengue prevention and control measures, including the importance of identifying and eliminating potential Aedes breeding sites, maintaining environmental hygiene, and checking breeding hotspots.

An overview of the current dengue situation in Islamabad was also shared to enhance situational awareness and strengthen preparedness during the ongoing monsoon season.

> “Effective dengue control begins with effective surveillance. Digital tools such as the PITB Anti-Dengue Application become truly effective when field teams are properly trained, data is accurately reported, and surveillance findings are translated into timely action.”

The training reflects the continued commitment of the District Administration Islamabad and District Health Office, ICT Health Department Islamabad Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination towards strengthening an integrated, technology-enabled and surveillance-driven approach to dengue prevention and vector control.

Gates Foundation representative visited the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) Islamabad, welcomed by DG Health MCI Dr. Irshad Ali Jokhio and DHO Islamabad Dr. Syeda Rashida Batool, alongside EPI and NSTOP teams.

​The visit included a field trip to UC Mera Jaffar and Rural-10, where well-organized outreach sessions were observed, and the authorities acknowledged the strong support provided by the polio program and EPI supervisors.

Refresher Training on Dengue Surveillance & Vector Control for Cooperative Housing Societies 🦟

On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Director General Health, CDA-MCI Islamabad and District Health Office Islamabad, the , convened a refresher training session for the Focal Persons of Cooperative Housing Societies at the F-8 Cooperative Societies Office.

The training was aimed at strengthening the capacity of society-level focal persons to conduct effective dengue surveillance, timely reporting and preventive vector-control activities within their respective societies.

District Entomologist Islamabad, Malik Muhammad Qasim Sujra , along with Senior Entomologist Abdul Qadir, Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination delivered a comprehensive technical training session covering:

🔹 Anti-Dengue App:Registration, activity reporting and effective utilization for surveillance and monitoring.
🔹 Dengue Surveillance Activities: Identification, reporting and elimination of potential mosquito breeding sites.
🔹 Mosquito Life Cycle: Understanding the developmental stages of mosquitoes and their significance for timely source reduction.
🔹 Dengue Case Response: Procedures for timely investigation, surveillance and response to suspected/confirmed dengue cases.
🔹 IRS & Fogging: Technical principles, appropriate situations for application and operational precautions.
🔹 Insecticide Dosage & Resistance: Importance of using the correct recommended insecticide concentration and dosage to ensure effective control while minimizing unnecessary exposure and environmental impact.

The Assistant Circle Registrar Siraj sb emphasized that society-level focal persons play a critical role as the first line of coordination between residents, society management and field health teams. Regular surveillance, timely reporting and immediate elimination of breeding sites can significantly reduce the risk of dengue transmission.

The participants were encouraged to maintain continuous surveillance throughout the monsoon season, actively engage residents, document activities through the Anti-Dengue App and immediately coordinate with the relevant Entomology teams whenever potential breeding sites or dengue cases are identified.

> “Effective dengue control begins with effective surveillance. When trained focal persons, field Entomologists, society management and communities work together, we can identify risks early, respond rapidly and prevent mosquito breeding before it becomes a public-health threat.”

The session reflects the continued commitment of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad, Directorate of Health Services District Health Officer Islamabad Entomology teams towards strengthening community-based vector control and building a proactive, surveillance-driven dengue prevention system across Islamabad’s cooperative housing societies.

Dengue Outbreak Preparedness Strengthened Across Islamabad 🦟

On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Director General Health, CDA-MCI, Dr. Irshad Ali Jhokio, along with the District Entomologist Islamabad Malik Muhammad Qasim, visited various housing societies along J.T. Road, covering G-15, F-15, G-16, E-16, E-17, B-17 and D-17, to assess dengue outbreak preparedness and strengthen coordination with society management.

During the field visit, the Director General Health, CDA-MCI reviewed the availability of essential logistics and vector-control equipment required for an effective dengue outbreak response. He emphasized that every housing society must maintain adequate preparedness and ensure the availability of:

3–4 IRS (Indoor Residual Spraying) pumps in operational condition.
1–2 functional fogging machines/thermal foggers for emergency vector-control response.
Adequate dengue awareness and prevention material for residents.
Awareness messages to be printed on the back of society utility bills to reach households effectively.
Banners and standees at all major entrance and exit points of the societies to ensure continuous public awareness.

The District Entomologist provided technical guidance and assured the management of the societies that the Entomology team remains available for technical support, use of insecticide , fogging, dengue case investigation, case response, vector surveillance and appropriate control measures whenever required.

The visiting team emphasized that preparedness must be ensured *before an outbreak occurs*, rather than waiting for transmission to increase. Society managements were encouraged to maintain regular surveillance, promptly report suspected breeding sites and dengue cases, and ensure immediate corrective action wherever mosquito breeding is identified.

The field visit reflects the commitment of the Islamabad administration, CDA-MCI Health Department and Entomology teams to strengthen dengue preparedness through proactive surveillance, adequate logistics, rapid response and community awareness.

Bloom Pakistan reported on the action taken against violations of dengue prevention measures in Islamabad.
The credit goes to the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Islamabad, and the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) administration for taking effective preventive measures and ensuring better dengue prevention services across Islamabad. These proactive efforts are aimed at protecting the citizens of Islamabad from dengue and reducing the risk of disease transmission.

Today, on 6th August 2026, the findings of the Third-Party Immunization Coverage Survey (TPVICS) Round-III conducted by the Aga Khan University were officially unveiled at a dissemination meeting held at PC Bhurban.

​We are proud to share that Islamabad has demonstrated an exceptional performance, scoring 73% Fully Immunized Children, with an impressively low 0.4% Not Immunized Children ratio! 📉✨
