In the 18th century Kahuta along with much of the subcontinent became part of British India, the undivided tehsil
(which includes what is now Kallar Syedan Tehsil) is described in the "Imperial Gazetteer of India" as follows: Kahuta-Eastern tahsil of Rawalpindi
District, Punjab, lying in the Lower Himalayas, between 33° 18Ⲡand 33° 48â N. and 73° 15â and 73° 39â E., with an area of 457 square miles.
Its eastern border rests upon the Jhelum River. The whole of the tahsil except the south-west corner lies in the hills, which in the north reach an elevation
of over 6,000 feet. The population in 1911 was 94,719, compared with 91,371 in 1891.
According to the 1998 census of Pakistan, Kahuta has a total population of 153,000. It contains 231 villages, of which Kahuta is the headquarters.
the main city is Kahuta, a small city with lots of surrounding villages. In rural areas there are lots of people who work in agriculture growing crops like
wheat. Many people have settled in UAE, USA, Canada, Australia, UK. And this is also the main source of income for them, from a business point of view
Kahuta is not developed as much as Kallar or Gujar khan.Anjuman talbah islam (ATI)was also established in kahuta in early eighties,
which is now revamped with new vigor by the students in kahuta city and Government Boys Degree College. this area is also famous as breeding ground
for army for centuries and still a large segment of population is serving in different Departments of Pakistan army. kahuta is beautiful but the major portion
of this tehsil is underdeveloped which shows negligence on the part of elected parliamentarians of this area. one of the main problem facing the
population of this area is the increasing level of crimes as this tehsil has only one police station since its establishment in 1889.
The tehsil is administratively divided into 13 Union Councils, two of which form the city of Kahuta, these are:[2] UC Name of Union Uc-30 Narh Uc-31 Punjar
