Finland has announced plans to close its embassies in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Myanmar in 2026 due to operational and strategic reasons.

The decision is linked to changes in political situations, limited economic ties, and Finland’s strategic review of its global missions.

Preparations for closure have already begun. Finnish authorities say the move will allow them to focus resources on countries of greater strategic and economic importance.

The decision follows Finland’s earlier closure in Pakistan in 2012 and aims to strengthen Finland’s foreign and security policy priorities.

Airlines worldwide have cancelled a significant number of flights ahead of the weekend. According to the Associated Press, the disruptions began after a JetBlue aircraft experienced a slowdown on October 30, causing it to descend unexpectedly.

The issue appears to be linked to a software problem affecting the widely used Airbus A320 family. Airbus explained that intense solar radiation may interfere with critical flight-control data on these aircraft.

In response, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued a directive urging all operators of A320 aircraft to address the problem, warning that flight schedules may face temporary disruptions.

Airbus noted that the issue emerged following a recent software update to the aircraft’s onboard computer systems. The update coincides with the post-Thanksgiving travel rush in the U.S., one of the country’s busiest travel periods.

According to the changes, the textbooks will state that Ziaur Rahman declared Bangladesh’s independence on March 26, 1971, and made a second declaration on March 27 on behalf of Mujibur Rahman.
