Chaqchan Mosque in Khaplu is one of the oldest mosques in Gilgit Baltistan, dating back to 1370AD.
It is heavily Influenced from Kashmiri architecture and was probably constructed by Kashmiri Artisans when the region converted to Islam from Buddhism.
The colorful details of the mosque are like any other I have seen in Pakistan and reflect its rich history.

No wonder the Skardu valley serves as the starting point of journey to some of the highest mountains and glaciers in the world such as K2 and Baltoro.
