🌱 Successfully Concluded: One-Day National Seminar on "Healthy Soils, Healthy Crops: The Foundation of Sustainable Agriculture" 🌱

The Soil Fertility Research Institute (SFRI), Punjab, Lahore proudly hosted this national seminar on Wednesday, 05 August 2026, bringing together scientists, researchers, academicians, and development partners from across Punjab.

The event featured insightful keynote and technical sessions, including:
🔹 Dr. Shabbir A. Shahid (ICBA) on "Feeding the Escalating Global Population in the Face of Climate Change"
🔹 Dr. Muhammad Akram Qazi (SFRI) on "Healthy Soil, Healthy Nation: The Science Behind Sustainable Agriculture"
🔹 Dr. Zia Chishti (AARI, Faisalabad) on "Soil Health and Nutrient Stewardship for Sustainable Crop Production"

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the "Lab on Wheels🥼" initiative, a groundbreaking project aimed at modernizing agriculture in the province. Under this program, mobile laboratories will reach farmers' fields upon a single call to conduct instant scientific testing of soil and water, including pH, nutrients, and contaminants.
🔹The results and expert fertilizer recommendations will be sent directly to farmers via SMS and WhatsApp, helping reduce costs and increase per-acre yield. CM Maryam Nawaz stated that this step moves Punjab’s agriculture from traditional methods into the digital age, with all labs to be monitored through GPS and live streaming for transparency and efficiency.
