Punjab is advancing a new chapter of economic engagement with the United States.

The Punjab Board of Investment and Trade - PBIT hosted a high-level Business Forum and Investment Briefing with a distinguished US investor delegation, chaired by Provincial Minister for Industry, Commerce and Investment, Shafay Hussain.

Led by Pakistan’s Ambassador for Trade and Investment in Washington, D.C., Mr. Muhammad Hanif Channa, the delegation explored high-potential investment opportunities across agriculture, energy, minerals, AI, textiles, and other strategic sectors.

Chairman PBIT Mr. Muhammad Muntaha Ashraf, Secretary IC&ID Dr. Omer Masud, Secretary Energy Punjab, Mr. Ajmal Bhatti, Special Secretary Agriculture Agha Nabeel, DG Mines Punjab, Mr. Farooq Rasheed and senior representatives of relevant departments participated in the session, presenting actionable investment opportunities and pathways for sector-specific collaboration.

Highlighting the need to narrow the existing trade gap between Punjab and the United States, Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain proposed the establishment of joint working groups to accelerate investment, strengthen commercial linkages, and translate shared potential into tangible outcomes.

The Minister underscored Punjab’s investor-friendly ecosystem, supported by modern Special Economic Zones, competitive incentives, robust infrastructure, and a strong focus on modernization. He invited US collaboration in precision agriculture, advanced farm equipment, soybean cultivation, seed development, and high-value manufacturing. Concrete initiatives unveiled included the upcoming Surgical City in Sialkot to augment the 90% export share of surgical instruments to North America, a new industrial estate at Quaidabad for pink salt value addition, rising e-mobility assembly plants, Chinese partnerships in lithium battery production, and the state-of-the-art Garment City at Sheikhupura’s Quaid-e-Azam Business Park—solidifying textiles as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s economy.

The engagement marks a significant step toward deeper Punjab–US economic cooperation, stronger private-sector partnerships, and sustained, mutually beneficial investment.

The Provincial Minister for Industry & Commerce and Investment Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, graced the solemn celebration of Portugal's National Day as the Chief Guest at a distinguished ceremony held at a local hotel, joined by H.E. Paulo Domingues, Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan, Consul General Iftikhar Feroz, the Consul General of China H.E. Sun Yan and the Consul General of Türkiye H.E. Mehmet Eymen Şimşek, along with esteemed diplomats and members of the business community.
In a spirit of camaraderie, the Minister joined the Ambassador and dignitaries in a ceremonial cake-cutting, extended warm felicitations to the people and leadership of Portugal, and, in his address, underscored the imperative of transforming Pakistan–Portugal ties into robust economic partnerships, emphasizing that while friendship endures, the time has arrived for tangible cooperation across industry, agriculture, tourism, textiles, and surgical goods.

Provincial Minister for Industries, Commerce & Investment Chaudhry Shafay Hussain reaffirmed that the enduring Pakistan–China partnership continues to grow stronger, fostering deeper economic cooperation and strategic collaboration. While addressing the ceremony commemorating the 75th anniversary of Pakistan–China diplomatic relations, organized by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI).
Highlighting outcomes of his recent visit to China, he shared that implementation is already underway on five bilateral agreements, while several leading Chinese enterprises are making multi-billion-rupee investments in Punjab, with additional investors expressing strong interest in the province.
He emphasized that, under the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister Punjab, progressive reforms—including the New Industrial Policy, Special Economic Zones, the Asaan Karobar Finance Scheme, and a broad range of investor-friendly initiatives—are transforming Punjab into a premier destination for investment, industrial expansion, and sustainable employment generation.

Punjab is going big on industrial growth. Provincial Minister for Industries, Commerce & Investment Chaudhry Shafay Hussain met a delegation of Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by President Khawaja Yasir Qayyum, and unveiled a game-changing Rs 300 billion Easy Loan Scheme via Bank of Punjab, launching this October, offering interest-free loans up to Rs 100 million, 3% markup financing up to Rs 1 billion, and 5% markup loans up to Rs 5 billion, to fuel industrial expansion and job creation province-wide.
The Minister also announced a multi-billion-rupee infrastructure upgrade across 23 Small Industrial Estates, a new Qaidabad industrial estate dedicated to pink salt value addition, and a fresh Job Placement Portal by PBTE to connect skilled talent with industry needs. He pledged zero tolerance for harassment of industrialists, directed strict compliance with Environment Department SOPs, and promised a personal visit to Sargodha soon. Rounding off the meeting, he welcomed the Chamber's Mango Festivals in Spain and South Africa next month, proposing a joint push with Multan Chamber to boost Pakistan's mango exports on the global stage.

A Chinese delegation from M/s Beijing Cyclon Technology Co. Ltd. called on PBIT CEO, Mr. Tauseef Dilshad Khatana, to assess investment prospects in Punjab’s kitchen food waste processing sector.

During the meeting, the CEO and his team presented the province’s investment framework, sectoral opportunities, and robust facilitation mechanisms designed to support foreign investors.

To ensure a holistic understanding of the local ecosystem, PBIT facilitated the delegation’s engagement with key stakeholders—including the President of the Lahore Restaurant Association and the Director General of the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), Government of Punjab. He met with a delegation of the Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (SIMAP), led by Chairman Zeeshan Tariq, to discuss the establishment of a 100-acre Surgical City in Sialkot, industry expansion, and export growth.
The Minister underscored that the proposed Surgical City will serve as a state-of-the-art industrial hub for both existing and emerging manufacturers, further cementing Sialkot’s status as a globally recognized center of excellence for surgical instruments.
