'Media Initiatives for Social Change' is a non-governmental/non profit organization, that aspires to serve as a vehicle to bring a social change and is working to raise social issues through media and social media campaigns. It aims to be the voice of marginalized and suppressed segments of the society and stand up for their rights. MISC encourages critical and creative ways of thinking and stimul

ates civic activism to promote peace, social justice, rule of law and good governance that would help in building empowered and sustainable communities. Moreover, MISC produces objective documentaries, journals, magazines, books and other awareness and educational materials that reflect the aims and objectives of the society. We work tirelessly to sensitize the policy makers to bring a positive social change in our communities and to bring peace and prosperity in the country.

From UNESCO, Paris - 15th to 17th July, the world came together for IDSSD (International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development 2024-2033). Being a representative of Media Initiatives Org. (MISC), joined remotely, but was present in every panel, every speech - listening to scientists, professors, entrepreneurs, governments, and UN & UNESCO leaders.
One powerful message stayed with me: Science is a common good. A tool for diplomacy. And a force that has made us better humans.
As a social entrepreneur, I learned this - we cannot solve today's challenges alone. We need multidisciplinary collaboration to bridge capacity gaps and ensure science benefits everyone.
The networking initiative by IDSSD at UNESCO was tangible - a platform for digital learning, exchanging ideas, and sharing success models for our interconnected world.
Three days that reminded us: When knowledge is shared, progress multiplies. # UNESCO # UNO # ITU # UNIDIR

Media Initiatives attended the public launch of UNIDIR's new publication: Unpacking the Open-Ended Working Group on ICT in the Context of International Security (2021-2025)
Held as side event to the Global Mechanism on ICTs, 21 July 2026.
3 key insights from the report:
OEWG evolved from annual negotiations to a permanent Global Mechanism.
Analysis covers 6 pillars - existing threats, rules/norms, international law, confidence-building, capacity-building & institutional dialogue.
Progress was possible even in a difficult security environment through step-by-step approach and preserving institutional memory.

Climate change is severely impacting South Asia, particularly Pakistan. The country is experiencing more intense flooding, sudden cloudbursts, and erratic monsoon rains due to rising temperatures. Extreme heatwaves and rapid glacier melting in the north are increasing the risk of flash floods and water shortages. Urban areas like Lahore face worsening winter smog caused by emissions and stagnant air, leading to serious health problems. While earthquakes are not directly caused by climate change, climate-induced landslides and glacial lake outbursts are making disasters more frequent. Overall, Pakistan is facing the twin challenge of too much water at once and too little later, threatening agriculture, health, and infrastructure.
