Abdul Aleem Khan, Federal Minister for Communications, has proposed establishing a direct land trade corridor between Pakistan and Tajikistan via Gilgit to strengthen economic cooperation and regional connectivity.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting with Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir, where both sides explored opportunities for improving trade routes, transport infrastructure, and bilateral commerce.
Officials emphasized the potential benefits of modernizing cross-border trade links, introducing concessional tar!ffs, and expanding transport connectivity to facilitate smoother movement of goods between the two countries.
The proposed corridor is expected to support regional economic activity and enhance Pakistan–Tajikistan relations. The communications minister also accepted an invitation to visit Tajikistan for further discussions aimed at advancing cooperation.
