A meeting was held in Director General LG&CD Punjab Office, to review the implementation of the “100% Child Birth Registration Initiative” in selected Masali Gaons under the UNICEF-supported PRMSC Project. The initiative aims to achieve universal birth registration through coordinated community outreach and collaboration among Local Government, NADRA, Health and Education Departments, and community stakeholders.
The meeting also focused on organizing community awareness activities and birth registration camps to facilitate families and ensure that no eligible child remains unregistered.

Dr. Farooq Ahmad Khara, Director (A&C), Director General LG&CD Punjab, delivered a lecture during the 3rd Six-Weeks Mandatory Promotion Training (MPT) of officers of the Administrative, Finance, Engineering and Planning Functional Unit of the Local Government Service at Punjab Local Government Academy, Lalamusa.
The session covered Digitization of CRVS in Punjab, Health Interoperability, Mobile Application & Biometric Verification, along with the Birth & Death Registration Rules in Punjab.
During his visit, Dr. Khara also conducted a comprehensive review of the Academy’s facilities, training arrangements and overall functioning, with a focus on ensuring effective management, quality training and further improvement. ‎

Today, an official delegation of the Philippine Ombudsman, comprising officers and staff, along with representatives of the Local Ombudsman, Sargodha, visited the office of the Assistant Director LG&CD, Kot Momin.

The Assistant Director welcomed the delegation and provided a comprehensive briefing on the administrative structure, functions and responsibilities of Union Councils and Local Government at the Tehsil level. The delegation was also briefed on various aspects of local governance, community services, public facilitation, maintenance of official records, registration services, complaint redressal, and coordination with Union Councils.

The visit served as a valuable opportunity for knowledge sharing and exchange of experiences regarding local governance, accountability, transparency and effective community service delivery at the grassroots level.

The Worthy Director General, LG&CD Punjab hosted a farewell and welcome lunch to acknowledge the services of Mr. Muhammad Farooq (AD T&M) and Ms. Mahnoor Tariq (PSO to DG/AD Coord), and to welcome the newly inducted Assistant Directors to the Department.
The occasion marked the conclusion of Mr. Farooq’s tenure with the Department and Ms. Mahnoor Tariq’s transition to the prestigious Civil Services of Pakistan, while also providing an opportunity to formally welcome the newly inducted officers and extend best wishes for their professional journey in the Department.
The Department extends its appreciation to the outgoing officers for their services and wishes them continued success in their future endeavors, while welcoming the new officers with the expectation of a productive and meaningful tenure ahead.

On Friday, 24 July 2026, Madam Beenish Sahi, Director General, Local Government & Community Development Department Punjab, visited and inspected the offices of the Deputy Director Local Government (DDLG) and Assistant Director Local Government (ADLG), Murree.
During the visit, Madam DG directed both officers to focus on the effective implementation of the Government's new initiatives and to further strengthen public service delivery.
She also visited Union Council Murree City, where she reviewed the functioning of the CRMS Mobile Application and assessed record management practices. Madam DG thoroughly inspected both old and new Union Council records, emphasizing the importance of accurate record-keeping, transparency, and efficient service delivery to citizens.
The visit reflects the department's continued commitment to improving local governance, strengthening institutional performance, and ensuring quality public services across Punjab.

From 16–18 June 2025, a three-day training on the Health Interoperable Birth Registration System in Punjab was hosted by NADRA in collaboration with UNICEF, bringing together representatives from key government departments and stakeholders committed to improving birth registration services across the province.
The training was attended by representatives from NADRA, the Health & Population Department, Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department (SHC&ME), Punjab Healthcare Commission, and the Local Government & Community Development Department, among other relevant institutions. The sessions focused on enhancing interdepartmental coordination and leveraging digital interoperability to ensure timely, efficient, and accurate birth registration.
On 17 June 2025, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Khara, Director Administration & Coordination, Local Government & Community Development Department, joined the training as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, he highlighted the significance of integrated digital systems, interdepartmental collaboration, and effective governance in strengthening public service delivery and ensuring every child's right to legal identity.

The Directorate General Local Government & Community Development Department had the pleasure of hosting a delegation of students from the Asian Institute of Law (AIOL), Lahore, as part of an educational visit aimed at enhancing their understanding of local governance and public administration.
During the visit, students were briefed on the structure, functions, and key initiatives of the Department. The interactive session covered various aspects of local government administration, community development, financial management, and public service delivery, providing participants with valuable practical insights into governance at the grassroots level.
The students engaged with senior officers of the Department, including Ms. Beenish Fatima, Director General LG&CD Punjab; Dr. Farooq Ahmed Khara, Director Administration & Coordination; Mr. Naveed Sardar, Deputy Director Audit & Accounts; and Ms. Mahnoor Tariq, Assistant Director Coordination / PSO to DG.
The Department remains committed to fostering awareness among students and young professionals by facilitating meaningful interactions that bridge academic learning with practical governance experience. Such initiatives contribute to developing informed, responsible, and engaged future leaders.
