Afaq Ahmed the Chairman of Mohajir Qaumi Movement was born in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan, on April 22, 1962. Shafqat Hussain, who migrated to Pakistan during the partition of sub-continent. Mr. Afaq Ahmed graduated from University of Karachi and he joined APMSO (All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organization) when he was a student at Government Degree College Korangi. When student organization APMSO was
banned then it was converted to Mohajir Qaumi Movement, Mr. Afaq Ahmed was the Joint Secretary of Mohajir Qaumi Movement. In 1989 Mr. Afaq Ahmed left the MQM because of some ideological differences with Altaf Hussain. On 19 June 1992 Mr. Afaq Ahmed announce the New Party MQM (Haqiqi), which is now Mohajir Qaumi Movement Pakistan. Mohajir Qaumi Movement Pakistan participated in general Election 2002 and secure two seats, one in National Assemble and one in Provincial Assembly. When Jamali government was being established Muttahida demand the President Musharraf to crush Mohajir Qaumi Movement Pakistan. Since that time Mr. Afaq Ahmed and his workers are facing state operation against them. On April 03, 2004 Mr. Afaq Ahmed the Chairman of Mohajir Qaumi Movement Pakistan was arrested and since then thousand of worker are displaced from their homes and hundreds of worker has been killed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement and a huge number of jail.
