Sindh extends motorcycle fuel subsidy, reduces tax on ride-hailing services

The Sindh government has extended its motorcycle fuel subsidy programme until May 31, 2026, aiming to continue financial relief for low-income commuters across the province.
According to the Chief Minister’s spokesperson, the provincial cabinet approved the extension of the “People's Motorcycle Fuel Subsidy Programme” and sanctioned Rs2 billion for the month of May under the scheme.

Officials informed the cabinet that more than 548,000 beneficiaries are currently receiving payments, while Rs1.096 billion has already been disbursed so far.
In a separate decision, the cabinet approved a reduction in sales tax for motorcycle-based ride-hailing services, cutting the rate from 5% to 2%. The move is expected to reduce provincial revenue by around Rs120 million annually but support growth in the digital transport sector.
The chief minister stated that the initiative will benefit online riders and help promote modern transport services in Sindh.
