In a recent interview, M Tanveer Nandla, Founder & CEO of iSkills, engaged in an insightful conversation with Dr. Zubair Iqbal, Vice Chancellor of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan. The discussion centered on the evolving education landscape in Pakistan and BZU's strategic direction.

Dr. Iqbal highlighted the importance of a balanced education approach, emphasizing that while STEM fields are crucial, social sciences play a vital role in shaping social behavior, and humanities contribute to cultural understanding, leading to holistic development. He also shared his vision for BZU’s growth and digital transformation, where the university is leveraging its 30,000 students to create a more digitized and efficient system, including a new website, centralized admissions, and better student services.

The conversation also touched on the creation of knowledge parks to foster collaboration between academia and industry, offering research-based solutions, especially in IT, and Dr. Iqbal proudly discussed BZU's inclusion in the QS rankings, with Agriculture and Chemistry being recognized internationally.

Panel Talk on Social Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Growth was recently held at Lincoln Corner, Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU). The event featured insightful discussions from a diverse panel of experts including Dr. Talat Anwar, Professor of Economics; Mishal Athar Shah, Head of Projects at Akhuwat; Waqas Haider Waqas Haider, Founder & CEO of Chiraagh-e-Noor Education; Wajahat Usman, MS student at Lahore School of Economics; Mr. Mazhar Iqbal, Lecturer in the Commerce Department; and Dr. Javaria Abbas, Ph.D in social entrepreneurship and Coordinator for entrepreneurship at BZU.
The panel explored the pivotal role of social enterprises in fostering sustainable economic growth, particularly in the context of Pakistan. Discussions highlighted the challenges faced by social entrepreneurs, the potential impact on local communities, and the future of social entrepreneurship in contributing to long-term economic growth.

A one-day training session for faculty was conducted at ORIC under the Professional Development Center on “Capacity Building Programs for PhD Supervisors”, aligned with the HEC postgraduate policy. The primary objective of this training session was to enhance faculty supervisory practices and improve research quality at BZU.
The session was structured into sub-sessions, each focusing on key aspects of PhD supervision, including:
(a) Roles, Responsibilities, and Expectations of Supervisors
(b) Building Effective and Trusting Relationships
(c) Keeping Research on Track and Monitoring Progress
(d) Supporting Candidates in Writing, Publication, and Well-being
The resource persons for this session were Prof. Dr. Habib Ur Rahman Athar and Dr. Muhammad Hanif, both from BZU. A number of faculty members, including Associate Professors and Assistant Professors, actively participated in the training.
At the conclusion of the session, all participants were awarded certificates. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Najam-ul-Haq, Director ORIC, and Dr. Asia Zulfqar, Associate Professor of Education and Training & Development Coordinator at the Professional Development Center, were also present at the event.

Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) recently hosted its inaugural orientation session for visiting and part-time entrepreneurship faculty. This pioneering event, conducted by Dr. Javaria Abbas, Coordinator for Entrepreneurship, with support from Mr. Ahmed Ali, Assistant Director, focused on establishing minimum course objectives and outlines for entrepreneurship courses along with the contemporary teaching methodologies. This framework allows each department the flexibility to customize their course content while ensuring consistency in foundational entrepreneurial education. These initiatives underscore BZU's commitment to nurturing innovation and academic excellence within our entrepreneurial community.​

A successful and inspiring visit from the University of Leicester School of Business team to Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan, has paved the way for exciting future collaborations. During their visit, the team had productive discussions with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hassan Bucha, Director Institute of Management Sciences, along with senior faculty members Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nauman Abbasi and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nadeem Sheikh, and the Coordinator External Linkages, Dr. Javaria Abbas.
The delegation from the University of Leicester included Dr. Abdul Jabbar, Dean of Internationalisation, and Mr. Asad Tahir Jappa, PhD Researcher/GTA. The meetings, which included a brief interaction with our students, reflected the shared commitment to fostering global academic partnerships. Following a constructive session with the Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Zubair Iqbal and Director ORIC Prof Dr. Muhammad Najam-ul-Haq, potential collaboration areas were identified, including research partnerships, faculty exchange, and dual degree programs, which will offer mutual benefits for both institutions.
An MOU will soon be signed to formalize this collaboration, marking the beginning of a promising journey between BZU and Leicester. This partnership will strengthen our ongoing mission to provide innovative opportunities for research and academic growth, contributing to the global academic community.

Aligned with the vision of Vice Chancellor Dr. Zubair Iqbal, who has consistently emphasized the importance of securing research grants, the Professional Development Centre ORIC organized an insightful training session on NRPU proposals, which was attended by over 70 faculty members.
Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Najam-ul-Haq walked participants step-by-step through the NRPU submission process, offering invaluable insights on completing the application effectively. The session also covered strategies to enhance proposal competitiveness and the importance of linking with relevant industries.
Dr. Asia Zulfiqar, Associate Professor and Training and Development Coordinator, led a highly beneficial session on Grant Writing: Strategies for Success, providing participants with essential tools for crafting high-quality proposals.
The session was further enriched by the inspiring success stories and tips shared by distinguished grant winners:
Dr. Zahid Shafique and Dr. Naeem Ashiq from the Institute of Chemical Sciences.
Dr. Nosheen Sarwat from Institute of Management Sciences.
Dr. Azra from the Department of Agronomy.
Their experiences were motivating and offered practical insights into successfully securing research funding.
