Filipino engineering student Carvey Ehren Maigue invented the Aureus Solar Panel, which generates electricity from ultraviolet (UV) light using luminescent particles extracted from recycled food waste.
Unlike traditional solar panels that rely on direct sunlight, Aureus panels can produce energy even on cloudy days or at night by converting UV rays into visible light, which is then turned into electricity.
This sustainable innovation, which won the James Dyson Sustainability Award, aims to repurpose food waste into clean energy, potentially powering buildings and reducing environmental impact.
