*Reforms in the Health Sector Are the Need of the Hour*

I had once made an attempt long ago to raise this issue in the National Jirga.
In any society, hospitals are symbols of hope, life, and healing. But when patients face inhumane behavior, substandard treatment, shortages of medicines and facilities, long waiting times, poor administration, and constantly changing policies, public trust is eroded.
In this, the sanctity and respect of women must be placed as the foremost demand.
There is an urgent need to ensure respect for patients, better medical facilities, modern equipment, availability of medicines, and professional training of medical staff in both public and private hospitals. A patient should not be treated merely as a case or a file, but as a human being whose life, dignity, and feelings must be protected by all.
The government should establish an effective monitoring system in the health sector. Action must be taken without discrimination against negligence and mismanagement, while the fees and medical services of private hospitals should also be regularly monitored. Instead of repeatedly changing policies, sustainable and public-friendly policies should be introduced that benefit both patients and medical staff.
A civilized society is recognized by its hospitals. If we build our health system on the foundations of humanity, transparency, accountability, and professionalism, then hospitals can once again become centers of hope and trust for the public.
