Ten 10 lessons from the book "The Difference Between Advising and Shaming" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie highlights the distinctions between constructive feedback and harmful criticism.

1. Intent Matters: Advising aims to help and support the person, while shaming intends to belittle and demean. The motivation behind the words significantly impacts how they are received.

2. Respect and Dignity: Effective advice respects the recipient's dignity and self-worth. Shaming, on the other hand, undermines a person's sense of value and can cause emotional harm.

3. Constructive vs. Destructive: Advising provides constructive feedback that can lead to improvement and growth. Shaming is destructive and often leaves the person feeling worse about themselves without a clear path forward.

4. Focus on Behavior, Not Person: Advising addresses specific behaviors or actions and suggests ways to improve them. Shaming attacks the person's character or identity, making it personal and hurtful.

5. Empathy and Understanding: Good advice comes from a place of empathy and understanding. It considers the person's circumstances and feelings. Shaming lacks empathy and often ignores the individual's context.

6. Encouragement vs. Discouragement: Advising encourages and motivates the person to do better. It is supportive and uplifting. Shaming discourages and can lead to a decrease in self-esteem and motivation.

7. Long-term Impact: Advising fosters a positive long-term impact, building trust and encouraging continuous improvement. Shaming can have long-lasting negative effects, damaging relationships and causing emotional scars.

These lessons highlight the importance of delivering feedback with care, empathy, and respect to support and uplift others, rather than tearing them down.

"Power is not something that you either have or you don't; it's something that you learn how to acquire and exercise over time. And like any other skill, it can be developed and improved with practice, patience, and persistence."

Here are the "7 Rules of Power" by Jeffrey Pfeffer:

Rule 1 - Be Willing to Take the Risk of Acting
Power requires taking calculated risks and acting decisively, even in the face of uncertainty.

Rule 2 - Never Lose Sight of the Big Picture
Keep your long-term goals and vision in mind, and make decisions that align with them, even if they require short-term sacrifices.

Rule 3 - Build a Network of Allies and Mentors
Cultivate relationships with influential people who can provide guidance, support, and opportunities for advancement.

Rule 4 - Focus on Building Your Strengths, Not Fixing Your Weaknesses
Develop and leverage your unique strengths and talents to achieve success, rather than trying to overcome weaknesses.

Rule 5 - Be Relentless in Pursuing Your Goals
Persistence and determination are key to achieving power and success; don't give up in the face of obstacles or setbacks.

Rule 6 - Make Yourself Valuable
Develop skills and expertise that make you indispensable to others, and use this value to negotiate and achieve your goals.

Rule 7 - Be Aware of the Moves and CounterMoves
Anticipate and prepare for the actions and reactions of others, and be strategic in your own moves and counterMoves to achieve power and success.

These lessons offer practical guidance on developing the skills and mindset necessary to acquire and exercise power effectively, from taking calculated risks to building a network of allies and mentors, and from focusing on your strengths to being relentless in pursuing your goals.

10 lessons from The Art of War by Sun Tzu:

1. Know your enemy and know yourself. This is the most important lesson in The Art of War. If you know your enemy and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles.

2. Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak. This is a lesson about deception. By appearing weak when you are strong, you can trick your enemy into underestimating you.

3. Attack where the enemy is unprepared. This is a lesson about surprise. By attacking where the enemy is unprepared, you can gain an advantage.

4. Make use of spies. Spies can provide you with valuable information about your enemy.

5. Use terrain to your advantage. The terrain can be a powerful tool in battle. By understanding the terrain, you can use it to your advantage.

6. Be flexible. The situation on the battlefield is constantly changing. You need to be flexible in order to adapt to these changes.

7. Concentrate your forces. Don't spread your forces too thin. Instead, concentrate your forces on a single point of attack.

8. Strike at the enemy's heart. The heart of the enemy is their will to fight. If you can break the enemy's will to fight, you will win the battle.

9. Use deception. Deception is a powerful tool in war. By deceiving your enemy, you can gain an advantage.

10. Know when to retreat. Sometimes, the best course of action is to retreat. By retreating, you can preserve your forces for future battles.
